Glitter n Sparkle DT - Use Some Flowers

Hi, everybody!  It's Sunday and that means there's a new challenge starting today over at Glitter n Sparkle Challenge Blog. This week we would like you to Use Some Flowers.  My card features this adorable kitty image called Cat's Favorite Chair from A Day for Daisies, which I coloured with my Prismacolor pencils, except for the chair cover, which I paper-pieced.

I die cut the flowers and heat-embossed with clear embossing powder - they look better in person! Here are the products used:

  • Patterned paper:  Momenta
  • Accents:  Letter stickers (stash)

Fall Scene Birthday (Newton's Nook image)

Hello, everyone!   Before I share today's card, I would like to welcome my three new followers - Terrie and Asmah (on GFC), and Mandz (on Bloglovin') - so happy that you have joined me!

My card features an adorable kitty from the Newton's Daydream set, from Newton's Nook Designs.  I just love this sweet little kitty!  I decided to make him an orange tabby, just like the real Newton! I coloured him with my Prismacolor pencils and fussy-cut.  He is popped up with foam tape.

There's a fall colour challenge over at the Newton's Nook blog and I couldn't resist!  I decided to make a little fall scene.  This is the first time I've made my own sky by sponging chalk over a cloud template.  I followed the tutorial and used the template I found at Netty's Cards - thank you!

For the grassy hills, I decided not to use my grass die, but instead I cut the green cardstock with grass-like craft scissors as I never seem to use them any more.  Then I sponged with distress ink to make them stand out a bit.  I also added some sponging under Newton.  I used my Cheery Lynn tree die and my Impression Obsession leaves. Then I added a tiny birthday sentiment using a wood-mount from The Old Island Stamp Company.

Chinese Doll (Hero Arts image)

Hello, everybody, I'm back again today with one last card!  This time I have used Hero Arts Chinese Dolls set.  I paper-pieced the doll's kimono and coloured the rest of the image with my Prismacolor pencils and then fussy-cut.  I used lots of patterned paper here, all from Basic Grey Konnichiwa 6x6 pad, onto which I stamped the bamboo and also the happiness and prosperity sentiments from the Chinese Dolls set in grey.

The stamp on the red patterned paper is from Mark's Finest Papers Works of Art set.  The die is Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares.

I would like to support the following challenges:
  1. A Blog Named Hero Papers, Please UE C5
  2. Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper September UE
  3. MFP Oriental Sketch Sketch (see below - I flipped it) 1/5

Thank you for looking at my card!  Wishing you a joy-filled day!

Fall Colours (Magenta image)

Hello, everyone!  I'm back again today after trying a new technique - stamping on a transparency and then inking.  I'm not overly excited about how this turned out, so I hope you don't laugh at my card!  I was inspired by this tutorial and I like Savannah's cards much better!  I saw it on the Magenta blog hop last week and wanted to give it a try.

Oh well, it is fun trying something new, even if it doesn't turn out as great as you hoped!  If you didn't watch the tutorial, I will explain how I made it.  I stamped onto a transparency, fussy-cut just the cat, inked up the back with purple, smooshed it onto the patterned paper, and then adhered.  I added a several ink splatters as well as blobs of yellow.  To provide more of a fall feel, I added a number of leaves.  I also distressed all around the card as I'm new to distressing and wanted to play a bit.

I made this card for the Fall Colors challenge over at Magenta.  The cat is one of their out-of-print "Cat of the Month" stamps (February 2010, Neko) and I fussy-cut just the cat.  The dies (leaves and word) are from Impression Obsession.  Patterned paper is Momenta and Creative Memories.

2 Christmas Cards (Spyder's Corner and DS4J images)

Hello, everyone!  Today I am sharing two Christmas cards.  This year my goal has been to make two holiday cards a month and it's been working out well.  Now I don't foresee a big rush come December.  My first card features an image from Spyder's Corner and my second card, Digi Stamps 4 Joy.  Scroll down for Card #2.

Card #1
This adorable Smiley Snowman is this week's freebie from Spyder's Corner and I couldn't resist making a card.  Hop over and snag the freebie for yourself before he's gone, and make sure you leave some love for Spyder - she's very generous with her weekly freebies and they are always so cute!   Now back to my card... I coloured the snowman with my Prismacolor pencils and added white glitter along the snow.  The glitter doesn't show up very well in the photo, unfortunately.  The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Plaid. The snippets of DP are from Lawn Fawn, as are the sequins and twine.  The snowflake button is from my stash.

With Card #1, I would like to support the following challenges:

My second card features this month's image for Digi Stamps 4 Joy's Monthly Christmas Challenge. It's called Two-wit Twoo, and I coloured it with my Prismacolor pencils, added Icycle Stickles to their caps, and sponged around the edges with distress ink (Tea Dye).  The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Plaid. The embossing folder is from Sizzix/Tim Holtz (Wood Grain); the burlap is from Micheals; and the snowflake button is from my stash.
