Celebration of Snippets

Hello, everyone!  Before I share my card, I would like to welcome my newest follower - Shery Russ - thank you for joining me!  If you would like to leave a link to your blog in the comments, I will be happy to hop over and follow you too!  I actually know another Shery Russ, so it's fun that there are two of you with the same name!

Today I'm participating in a special event!  Have you ever played at Pixie's Snippet Playground?  It's a place to go to show off what we've made with our snippets (scraps, leftovers), and it's hosted by the lovely Di.  Well, Di's friend Darnell has initiated a blog hop to thank Di for the 7 years she has managed the Playground, and of course I wanted to join in!

I love playing at the Snippets Playground!  I've been hanging out there since 2014.  Di has a bi-weekly linky, and she comments on every entry.  She provides an inspiration card with details on how she made it, and offers up a generous prize, out-of-pocket.  Di also has a new puppy - Dudley - and she shares a lot of cute photos and updates!  Thank you, Di, for all you do to encourage us to use our snippets!

My card features lots of snippets!  First, there's the die-cut alcohol ink background, which is a snippet from this card. I adhered it to a white panel and then a brown panel, both of which are snippets.  The die-cut buck/wreath is cut from the same brown panel.  I stamped a sentiment on a die-cut banner, also a snippet.  Lastly I added a few brown sequins.

Framed Roses and Coffee

Hello, everybody!  Before I get started, I would like to welcome my newest follower - Dotty Jo x - thank you for joining me!

Today I'm sharing a love-themed thank-you card!  This image is called Framed Roses and Coffee from STAMPlorations and it's available for free, along with two others (thank you, Shery!).  I coloured it with markers and fussy-cut the flowers so I could pop them up on foam tape. I inked around the text portion with Distress Ink.  I added a die-cut heart on the coffee, as well as a die-cut sentiment tag, some crinkle ribbon, and a tiny heart charm at the top left.

Thanks Snow Much

Hello, everybody!  Today I'm sharing another winter card but this time it's a thank-you card!

I started with the background, which I made using the ink-smooshing technique and Distress Inks.  It looked a bit plain so I added stencilled snowflakes.  I adhered a die-cut snowy landscape and then die-cut the panel with a stitched scalloped rectangle.  I coloured the snowman and kitty with markers, fussy-cut, and then adhered with foam tape.  I tied some twine at the top, with a tiny tag that says "hugs" and a metal snowflake charm.  At the bottom of the card, I stamped the sentiment. Finally I matted the die-cut panel on kraft cardstock.

Clear stamps: STAMPlorations Winter Chill (snowman and sentiment), STAMPlorations Purrfectly Pawsome (cat), A. Jillian Vance DieLuxe Tiny Tags (hugs word)
Ink: Background (Distress Inks Broken China, Tumbled Glass), stencilling (Stampin' Up Tempting Turquoise), stamping (Lawn Fawn Jet Black, Versafine Onyx Black)
Stencil:  Hot Off the Press Snowfall (I was unable to find a link so it might be retired)
Dies: Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Stitched Nested Rectangles, Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders, A. Jillian Vance DieLuxe Tiny Tags
Other:  American Crafts twine, snowflake charm

Mitten Kitten

Hello, everybody!  Here's the second of two winter holiday cards I'm sharing today!  Again, I'm using non-traditional colours and having fun working ahead, hoping to avoid the time crunch in November!

I used my alcohol inks to make this background!  I was inspired by this card although I ended up making two alcohol ink panels, one with reds and pinks, and the other with blues and greens, and then die-cut both panels and paper-pieced.  I love the bright, vibrant colours!

For the sleepy kitty, I kept the colouring to a minimum so it wouldn't compete with the vibrant background.  Instead I doodled a checked pattern on her hat and mitten and added dots to the polka dot area.  I adhered the kitty with foam tape on a vellum snowflake die-cut.  The sentiment was heat-embossed in white on a black scrap. I finished off the card by adding gems and snowflake sequins.

Cold Hands Warm Hearts

Hi, everyone!  Today I have two winter holiday cards to share!  I've been having fun with non-traditional colours lately!  As mentioned in an earlier post, I'm working ahead to make my holiday cards, hoping to avoid the time crunch in November!  Here's the first card and I'll be right back with my second one.

I'm sharing this card first, but it's actually the second card I made, using the leftovers from this card.  I paper-pieced the leftovers from my red/pink alcohol ink background into a white die-cut. For the kitty, I kept the colouring to a minimum so it wouldn't compete with the vibrant background.  Instead I doodled a checked pattern on her dress and added dots to her mittens and pocket.  I adhered the kitty with foam tape on a vellum heart die-cut.  The sentiment was heat-embossed in white on a black scrap. I finished off the card by adding lots of snowflake sequins.

Other:  Ranger white embossing powder, Pilot Fineliner for doodling, holographic silver snowflake sequins

A Frosty Hello

Hello, everyone!  Today I'm sharing another winter holiday card!  I'm determined to keep making them all year long so there will be no rushing in November!

I made a cool background with Distress Inks using the ink smooshing technique and then applied Snow-Tex through a stencil to create a snowfall look.  I heat-embossed the snowman in white on a die-cut purple tag, added a die-cut snowflake, and stapled tulle at the top of the tag.  The sentiment is heat-embossed in white on a black scrap and then I cut the words apart before adhering them.  Along the bottom of the card is a die-cut snowflake border in white.

Snow Cool Kitty

Hi, everybody!  I've made another kitty card for the holidays!  I hope to get as many cards as possible made ahead of time so I won't have to scramble this year!

I coloured the kitty with markers and added Glossy Accents on her eyes.  I made a little snow scene for my kitty with an ink-smooshed background and layered it onto patterned and sparkly papers according to the sketch mentioned below.  The sentiment was heat-embossed in white on a black scrap and I added some die-cut mittens and a few snowflake sequins.

Stamps:  Kitty (Your Next Stamp Hello Winter), sentiment (Your Next Stamp Waddles Winter Wonderland)
Ink: Background behind kitty (Distress Inks Broken China, Tumbled Glass), cat (Lawn Fawn Jet Black), sentiment (Versamark)
Patterned paper:  Echo Park
Other: Ranger white embossing powder, Heidi Swapp glitter paper, Glossy Accents (added to kitty's eyes), snowflake sequins

I was inspired by Sketch 485 at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  With this sketch they are honouring a former DT member Jessi, who recently passed away:

I was also inspired by the following 9 challenges:

Ink:  Versamark, Your Next Stamp Holly Berry Red, Ranger Archival Emerald Green
