Double Trouble 60 - Something, Anything, Everything

Hello, everybody! We have a new challenge for you at Double Trouble Paper Crafting! You may remember that I am a Crazy Cousin (Guest Designer) this month.  This is my final post as Crazy Cousin, and I have enjoyed myself!

Our challenge is a fan favourite - Something, Anything, Everything - so I hope you'll be inspired to join us!  There are always some optional twists ("Things") to cause you trouble, so please head over to Challenge 60 for all the details and inspiration from the Design Team.  In the meantime, here's a brief summary:

Thing 1 is easy, so just have fun!  Thing 2 is to pair with a previous Double Trouble partner, so I chose Crafting Happiness. Their theme is Always Anything Goes, so again, easy and fun.  For Thing 3, since I'm in Canada, the colour combo of red, white, and blue does not have the significance it has in the U.S.; however, I adore these colours for winter holiday cards!  I aim for making two holiday cards a month, and this is my second.

My card started with a Distress Oxide background using the watercolour ink-smooshing technique.  I stamped the snowman, coloured with markers, and fussy-cut so I could pop him up on foam tape.  I die-cut the cover plate in white glitter cardstock and the tree border in white.  I stamped the sentiment on a blue scrap and hand-cut a banner on each end.  To finish the card, I adhered a number of red snowflake sequins.

Clear stamps:  Snowman (Your Next Stamp Snow Much Fun), sentiment (Your Next Stamp Waddles Winter Wonderland)
Dies:  Hello Bluebird Winter Woods Overlay, Lawn Fawn Forest Border
Ink:  Distress Oxides (Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass)
Other:  Red snowflake sequins

Here is my cute Double Trouble Crazy Cousin badge, along with the Family Tree.  Thank you to Double Trouble for having me as your Crazy Cousin this month - it was fun!

Poinsettia

Hello, everyone!  Today I'm sharing a winter holiday card!  This is my first for the month.  If you're a regular follower, then you know I have a goal of making two each month, so stay tuned tomorrow for a second card.

I gold-heat-embossed the poinsettia (STAMPlorations Christmas Flower Large) and sentiment on maroon cardstock.  I die-cut the panel with a wonky stitched rectangle (Whimsy Stamps Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles) and mounted it on a gold foil panel, then on a snowflake-embossed maroon panel, and then I adhered to a white card base.  To finish the card, I adhered some gold flat-backs to the centre of the poinsettia and a few on the lower right corner.

I would like to support the following 10 challenges:

TMS 560 - Tuesday Morning Sketches

Hello, everyone! We have a new sketch for you this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches!  I enjoyed this one very much, and I hope it will inspire you too!

I was thrilled to use a bunch of my scraps for this card!  I save all scraps of the alcohol ink backgrounds that I make, just for this reason!  Even the smallest scrap can be used in die-cutting.  The die is Simon Says Stamp Butterfly Drift, and I cut it 8 times, once in white, and then 7 more times, placing a different colour scrap over each of the butterflies as I ran it through my Cuttlebug.

I paper-pieced the rainbow-coloured butterflies back into the white outline.  I die-cut a scalloped border for each side of the vertical strip (Lawn Fawn Stitched Scalloped Border).  The background is embossed with Taylored Expressions Butterfly Swirl and I adhered the vertical strip with foam tape.  I stamped the sentiment (Clearly Besotted) and adhered according to the sketch.  To finish the card, I added a coordinating sequin to the center of each butterfly.

Here's our Sketch 560, designed by Melissa. I hope you'll be inspired to join our challenge - I always enjoy seeing what you make!

Mermaid Scene

Hello, everyone!  Today I'm sharing a mermaid card!  For this underwater scene, I used all dies, no stamps.

I used a lot of dies from my stash, too many to list here.  I sponged some Distress Ink on the mermaid's hair and skin, and I layered her tail, bikini, and flower twice to add dimension.  I used a black fineliner to draw her face, following the indentation on the die-cut. I adhered lots of sequins and gems to simulate bubbles.  I had a lot of fun making this card!  Here's another photo at an angle so you can see the sparkle.

The UnstampaBelles has a challenge theme of Magic this month, with a twist of Disney, and I was inspired by The Little Mermaid.

Double Trouble 59 - 3-2-1 Recipe

Hello, everybody!  Before I get started, I would like to welcome my newest follower - Karen M Christopherson - thank you for joining me!

We have a new challenge for you at Double Trouble Paper Crafting! You may remember that I am a Crazy Cousin (Guest Designer) this month, and I am enjoying myself!

Our challenge is a fun 3-2-1 Recipe, so I hope you'll be inspired!  I admit I had to read this one a few times before I figured it out so be careful not to get into trouble!  Please head over to Challenge 59 for all the details and inspiration from the Design Team, but in the meantime, here's a brief summary:

My card features all three Things for this challenge (Double Trouble lists the Things out of order, so I've followed the same format):

Thing 1:  3-2-1 Recipe - 3 Colours, 2 embellishments, and 1 Stamped Sentiment More than One Year Old.

Thing 3:  Using the sketch below, create a project using no circles, ovals, or rounded corners.   Note that bling and small embellishments can be any shape.

Thing 2:  Participate in Retro Rubber's Sketch #137 if Things 1 and 3 have been completed.

Here's my card!

I stamped the watermelon kitty (Newton's Nook - Newton's Melon), coloured him with markers, and fussy-cut so I could pop him up on foam tape.  I die-cut the stitched triangle and did some Distress Ink blending (Mowed Lawn, Shabby Shutters, Picked Raspberry) to simulate a watermelon slice.  I spritzed with water and stamped two seeds (STAMPlorations Layered Watermelon) in black.

My background was created months ago with Distress Inks or Distress Oxides using the ink-smooshing technique, and I thought it coordinated well with my colour combo (pink, green, yellow).  I die-cut with a stitched rectangle (Gina Marie Designs).  I added a vertical strip of black washi tape according to the sketch.  I stamped the sentiment in black (Unity Stamp Cling Rubber Itty Bitty Collection - One in a Melon).  I've had this stamp for over 6 years so it's definitely older than one year!  To finish the card, I adhered my two embellishments (black sequins and magenta flower sequins).  The angled photo below shows the colour of the flower sequins better.

I hope you'll be inspired to join our challenge! I am looking forward to seeing what you make!

Check out my cute Double Trouble Crazy Cousin badge! She looks just like me!

TMS 558 - Tuesday Morning Sketches

Hello, everyone!  We have a new sketch for you this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches, and I hope it will inspire you!  I decided to make a card for a man.

This gorgeous Great Horned Owl was designed by Donna Ellis at Creative Smiles, and I won the set from her a couple months ago (thank you, Donna!).  I fussy-cut one of the pre-coloured images so I could pop it up on foam tape.  Behind the owl is a stitched oval die-cut.  The kraft background was die-cut with a stitched wood-grain pattern.  I added some die-cut tree branches according to the sketch and finished the card with a stamped sentiment.  I couldn't resist a Great Horned Owl pun, so the sentiment reads, "Wishing you a Great day!"

Here's our Sketch 558, designed by Melissa, and I rotated it clockwise.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you make!

Double Trouble Challenge 58 - I'm a Crazy Cousin!

Hello, everybody!  I am happy to announce that I am a Crazy Cousin this month at Double Trouble Paper Crafting!  Crazy Cousin equals Guest Designer but sounds like a lot more fun!

We have a great challenge for you, and I don't think it's any trouble at all!  Please head over to Challenge 58 for more inspiration and all the details, but in the meantime, here's a brief summary so you don't get in any trouble:

I made a card for a man, with lots of circular elements.  I was happy to dust off my gear dies that hubby Brian bought me several years ago!

I was inspired by a technique I saw at Splitcoast Stampers called Embossing with Detailed Dies.  Here's a link to their video that shows how I made the background, which I then die-cut with a stitched rectangle and adhered to a black panel. I fussy-cut the vintage car and adhered it with foam tape to a black die-cut circle and then adhered a white sentiment strip.  To finish the card, I die-cut several gears in black and adhered them to the background.

Dies:  Memory Box Gear Assembly, Memory Box Deluxe Gear Set, Memory Box Mini Gears, Gina Marie Designs Dot Studs Circle, Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle
Ink:  Staz-On Jet Black, Rusty Brown, Timber Brown
Digital stamp:  Pixel Scrapper Vintage Car 01 (freebie, thank you)
Digital sentiment: Crafty Secrets Car Classics
Paper:  Silver poster board (from my Dollarama stash), black cardstock (Recollections)

I hope you'll be inspired to join our challenge!  I am looking forward to seeing what you make!

Check out my cute Double Trouble Crazy Cousin clip art!  She looks just like me!
