My 5 Favourite Cards of 2014

Hello, everyone!  Debby over at A Scrapjourney would like to see our five favourite cards of the year, and so does Mynn over at On a Stampage.  It's a lot of fun to look back over the year's creations, but it's hard to narrow it down to five!  I really like the majority of my cards - but I noticed I had some duds in there too!  I won't be reminiscing about those LOL!

Here are my five favourites - sorry, I ended up with seven!

My favourite card of all was originally posted here. It was my first step card!  I'm also linking this one up at Deep Ocean in their Favourite 2014 Card challenge.

This one is my second favourite, posted here.

Next is the card I made for Brian to celebrate our new home, originally posted here.

Next is my first pop-up box card, made for my friend Marion, posted here.

Then I chose this one.  It's a Christmas card but I made it in April.  I should have included it in my 5 favourite Christmas cards post but missed it.

Here's another one of my favourites, along with the original post.

Last but not least, I love this Valentine's Day card, posted here.

Five out of seven featured kitties, go figure!  Thank you to Debby and Mynn for the link-ups!

Thanks for looking at my cards!  Wishing you a Happy New Year!

Again this year, Debby over at A Scrapjourney would like to see our five favourite Christmas cards. Well, of course, I wanted to join in!

It's hard to choose only five, but here goes...

I love this card I made for my friend Marion.  You can read more about it here.

Another favourite is this stair-step-fold easel card, originally posted here.

I love this card I made for my parents; more details here.

Another favourite is this fun shaker card, originally shared here.

And last but not least, I loved this one.

These are all fairly recent makes, but I do seem to favour my latest cards.  Thank you, Debby, for inspiring me to look back at my Christmas cards - I enjoyed it!  If you'd like to join Debby's linky, it's here.

Wishing you a joyful day!

Glitter n Sparkle DT - Anything Goes

Hello, everyone!  Before I share today's card, I would like to welcome my newest follower - Dee - so happy you joined me!  And welcome to my two new Bloglovin' followers - Christine Kiehl and Janice Raso - nice to have you here!

It's Sunday, and that means there's a new challenge starting today over at Glitter n Sparkle Challenge Blog! This week our challenge is an all-time favourite - Anything Goes!  I hope you can join us!  Look at the adorable image I chose!  It's called Cat-r-Pillar from Eureka Stamps and I coloured it with my Prismacolor pencils.  I added a punched star in gold glitter paper, a snippet left over from another holiday project.

I mounted the image on silver glitter paper (left-over snippet) and stamped a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps on a die-cut stitched tag (La-La Land Stitched Elements), tied with sparkly eyelash ribbon.  I used patterned paper, sparkly webbed ribbon, lace, and a bell charm from my stash.

Please come over and join us at Glitter n Sparkle for our Anything Goes challenge. We have some fabulous prizes up for grabs again this week, so I hope you'll play along!

Waiting for Santa

Hello, everyone!  Not long now until Santa comes!  The elf twins Eli and Elfis are ready for his arrival.  Here they are waiting in a handmade rocking chair.  Brian made this for me in a welding class he took last year, and he gave it to me last Christmas. It's just the right size for the elves! Oh, the excitement in waiting for Santa!  Merry Christmas to all!

Elf under the Kitty Tree

Hi, everyone!  We're not doing much for Christmas this year and we are not having a tree, but Brian has this lovely kitty tree that he has put out.  It even lights up! As soon as my little elf Elfis saw it, he had to go check out all the presents underneath.

Kitty in a Jar (Marianne Designs die cut)

Hello, everyone.  Here is my third and final Christmas ornament for Brian from our kitties.  This one is from Kiwi. You can click back to see my ornaments from Honeydew and Snowie.  Kiwi's ornament features Marianne Designs Collectables You are Purrfect COL1353, which I die cut from left-over snippets, pieced together, and placed inside a jar from the dollar store.

I added whiskers to the kitty with a fine black marker and a ribbon bow from Crafty Ribbons Organza Swiss Dots.  The ribbon, button, and trim around the top of the jar are from my stash. Inside the jar, along with the kitty, I added a tree and snow from the dollar store.  Here is a view from the back.

The top was plain, so I added snowflake and penguin stickers from the dollar store. Here is a view of the top.

One last look. I think Brian will like it!

Thanks Snow Much (Deedee's Digis image)

Hello, everyone.  Here's a Christmas thank-you card I made with the December progressive challenge image from Deedee's Digis.  The set is called Happy Brrr-day. Did you hear the sad news?  Deedee's is closing her shop permanently at the end of January due to the new European VAT tax laws.  While this is a sad time for those of us who love Deedee's Digis, it is also a great time to stock up - there is a massive 75% off sale over there right now, so don't miss out!

For my card, I used the pre-coloured image - great for a quick one!  I die-cut the oval with a stitched die from My Creative Time and added dots of white Liquid Pearls to represent snow.  The thank-you sentiment is from Newton's Nook's Winter Tails set and I stamped it in SU Mellow Moss. The DP is from BoBunny Snow Day Collection. The die-cut trees are Memory Box Evergreen Landscape. Lastly I added some pearl accents.

Hello, everyone!  My elf - Elfis - loves Santa Claus! Well, who doesn't?  But he really has a fondness for the Big Guy - and the feeling is mutual! Santa is so good natured - he even let Elfis pose on his nose!

Have you been checking out all the elf fun over at DL.ART's Second Annual Elf Antics Linky Party?  It will make you smile!  Wishing you a joyful day!

Quick is good

Hello, everyone!  I give out a lot of cards, and sometimes there are people on my list who don't appreciate a handmade card. Do you know anyone like that? For those people, I make a quick and simple card because I know they will throw it away after Christmas.  What do you do?

Here's what I do. It's still hand-made, but I didn't invest a lot of time.  If this card looks familiar, it's because I CASE'd my card from last week using an image from a recycled card from last year.  I added some sparkly silver ribbon tied in a triple-looped bow and a sparkly snowflake with red gem. The sentiment is an old wood-mounted stamp from Plaid/All Night Media, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.
