Brian's Card #1

Hi, everybody!  I am so proud of my hubby Brian!  He has made 5 cards for the Cat Lovers Hop!  If you've been following me for a long time, then you may remember that he had a stroke four years ago, in 2018.  Life has not been the same for us since that time, but Brian has always been creative.

Work in progress
Brian's cards actually started way back in the spring, when he wanted to make a card for me.  I stamped out a bunch of Gerda Steiner kitty images for him to colour with my Prismacolor pencils.  He started colouring but his memory isn't good and the project got put on the back burner.

Surprise!
This week with the Cat Lovers Hop underway, I suggested he dust off his colouring from months ago and make a card for the hop.  To my surprise, he was inspired to colour all of the images I had stamped for him, and he ended up making 5 cards!

He didn't want my advice
In order to make the cards, Brian needed assistance.  I presented him with a number of printed backgrounds and sentiment stamps to choose from.  He laid out his coloured images and sentiment stamps on the backgrounds and made all of the design decisions himself.  He did not want my advice! In fact, he rejected several of my suggestions LOL!  To assemble the cards to look exactly as he designed them, I took photos and then assisted with fussy-cutting, stamping sentiments, and adhering; that's all I did.  He designed these cards himself!

Dedicated to Snowie's memory
Brian coloured all of the kitties to look like Snowie, his precious kitty who passed away last year.  He ended up making one greeting card and a set of four coordinating journal cards for Snowie's Memory Album.

RIP Snowie, 2005-2021

Here's his first card.  Brian made it with Snowie on his mind and deep in his heart:

Stamps:  Gerda Steiner Valentine Cats (cat and yarn ball), Newton's Nook Smitten Kittens (sentiment)
Purr Background:  Digital Scrapbook

In addition to the Cat Lovers Hop, Brian also chose to join these 4 challenges:

Crazy for Cats 1 AG Cats 1/5
Gerda Steiner Share Your Designs October
Show Us Your Pussycats 82 Furrything Goes UE

Thank you for looking at Brian's card!  He is looking forward to reading your comments!  We appreciate your support!  I am very proud of him!

Be still my heart. I'm so moved by what you've both been through and losing Snowie too. What better way to celebrate Snowie and Brian's fabulous progress than to create a card to encompass it all. The card is just so sweet. Well done Brian! I'm in awe!

Brian can be very proud of himself just like you are of him. Some people don't realize what a stroke can actually do to a persons mind. I know because my husband went through the same thing. He did an outstanding job on ALL these cards he did. Great designs and just as cute as can be. Love them all.

Oh Kitty, WOW!!!! What heartfelt thought! I’m very touched by Brian’s firm will to create these cards on his own, in memory of your sweet Snowie!!! You have to be so proud of him! And I had no idea he was so talented!!! WOW again!!!! Five cards, all designed and coloured so well by himself!! He is much more accurate than me at colouring! :)
Anyone can see that this card is FULL of LOVE and that he keeps Snowie on deep of his heart!! And the idea to make journal cards for Snowie's Memory Album is a very touching thought!! Very well done Brian for having done all by yourself rejecting Kitty's advices! (Sorry for you, dear Kitty! :D LOL )
Such fabulous design! It's so clean, sweet and impressive with the little Snowie with those cute blue eyes and the big Puur in the balloon!! Fabulous choice of sentiment (it tells a lot!) and the yarn that unrolling forming a heart is really a delicious detail, that speaks itself! The pale beige background makes the card masculine as it has to be. I'm sure that you Kitty would have made pink! :D LOL
Big congrats to Brian for his improving and great crafting skills!
I am going up to check the other four cards! Hugs and love to you both!

Brian's first card for the Hop is fabulous! It is so hard losing a kitty and Snowie was so beautiful. Brian's love for Snowie shines through his card and he should be so proud of himself and his creativity. Well done. xx

I am slow getting around to all the projects, but I am so completely honored that Brian is joining us this year in our Hop. I have each of his 5 cards open in separate tabs in front and me and am just charmed and delighted at the playfulness and love for your dear Snowie that is shown in each one! Finishing these took a great deal of courage and determination to accomplish. Brian....your Cat Hop Family is.....SO.PROUD.OF.YOU.!!

What I esp love abt card #1: that adorable ball of yard with the heart shape!! <3 Snowie's sweet facial expression, gorgeous blue eyes, and HUGE PURR!!
