Penguin Greetings

Hi, everybody!  I'm starting early on my winter holiday cards!  I plan to make at least two a month and hopefully more!  Fortunately I have Rudolph DayABC Christmas, and Christmas Kickstart every month to keep me on track!

Today's card features a cute penguin, marker colouring, ink blending, a gorgeous die, and the eclipse technique!

In case you haven't heard, Scribbles Designs is celebrating their 7th birthday!  Congratulations to Sandy and her team!  They are having a challenge, flash freebies, and some fun games, so I wanted to join in!  I decided to go with a penguin-themed card - this little guy is Scribbles Designs Brrrnard with Star and he is also part of this set: Scribbles Designs Three B's Trio.  I coloured him with my markers, added Star Dust Stickles to his pompom, and fussy-cut so I could pop him up on foam tape.

I made the background by ink blending Distress Oxides (Scattered Straw, Tattered Rose, and Abandoned Coral) and then splattered some water to activate the Oxides. I die-cut the inked panel with a stitched rectangle (Gina Marie Designs) and then die-cut with STAMPlorations Holiday Words Plate Die - CUTplorations. I used the same die again on white craft foam so I could add dimension under the words for the eclipse technique (here's a video showing how to do this technique).  As for all the little bits and pieces that aren't part of the words, I paper-pieced them in place using the die as a guide. To finish off the card, I adhered a number of red and white snowflake sequins. This card was fun to make and I love how it turned out!

I would like to support the following 8 challenges:
ABC Christmas A for Anything Goes UE:
Christmas Kickstart 27 Penguin Parade 2/3 C8;
Kat Scrappiness No Designer Paper UE;
Mod Squad Animal Image 2/3;
Rudolph Day January 1E C10;
Scribbles Designs Penguin Power (penguin-themed card - SD);
STAMPlorations Theme and Photo Prompt January (I was inspired by the stamps and splatters theme) 3/6;
STAMPlorations Never-ending AG STAMPlorations UE

Thank you for looking at my card!  Wishing you a joyful day!

Love this, Kitty. The eclipse technique is great and the colour blending is seamless. Wish I could get my act together and work on holiday cards this early... maybe someday.
