Iris Fold Ornament (DS4J image and DDD paper)

Hello, everyone!  What fun I had making this card!  I won this gorgeous Christmas Kitty paper over at The 12 Months of Christmas Link-up for being their very first follower!  It's a brand new challenge blog so I think you should head over and follow along - there are more prizes to come, and you definitely want to link up in 2015 when the challenges start!  Lisa Decosse of Decosse's Dynamite Doodles designed this Christmas Kitty paper especially for me as my 1st Follower's prize because she knows I love kitties!  Thank you, Lisa - I love it and couldn't wait to use it!

I decided to make an iris fold ornament! I haven't done iris folding for quite a while and it's one of the first techniques I learned as a card maker!  The papers were recycled from last year's Christmas gifts - I save everything if it can be used on a card LOL!  I cut the circles with my Nellie's Multiframe Circles, and the top of the ornament is die cut from gold cardstock using Memory Box Luca Ornament. Here's a close-up of my iris fold:

I really wanted to incorporate the Christmas Tag from Digi Stamps 4 Joy, which is their November Christmas Challenge image, on my card.  Actually there are two tags but I only needed one!  I made it quite tiny and attached it to this little 3-D shaker gift sticker.  Here's a close-up:

I inked all around the edges of the tag and stamped a tiny cat - because the gift is for kitty!  I coloured it with my Prismacolor pencils and tied it with gold twine.

The sentiment  is a rubber stamp from Impression Obsession, and I added the holly leaves and berries (also Impression Obsession), which I inked around the edges with distress ink.   Lastly I embellished the edges of the card with a string of gems.

I would like to support the following challenges:

This is cool! I have never tried this technique! Thank you for your sweet comments on my blog - I struggle with physical limitations, chronic pain and other medical issues myself and cannot more than part time, so sadly I can relate to that part. I hope you feel better SOON and best of luck - I hope you win lots and lots of crafty goodies from your challenges!! :)

You did a wonderful job on your iris folding Kitty... your bauble looks fabulous. I love that you've created it out of recycled wrapping paper from last years Christmas presents. Our paper gets torn to shreds as the kids rip through... there's not much left for crafting!
Cheers,
Beccy

What a great job on that ornament. Very pretty! We're delighted that you joined our Challenge last week at Word Art Wednesday. We hope to see you again this week. Leaving you with God's Word in Hebrews 12:2, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Have a blessed day.
