Turner Syndrome Hop and Butterfly Inside-Out Card

Hello, everybody!   Does anyone else struggle with fun folds?  This one did not look difficult and it wasn't complicated, but I still struggled.  It's too embarrassing to say how long this took me to make, but I did it!  It's called an Inside-Out Card, and I saw the tutorial on Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge 152.  I went with the theme only (Inside-Out Card) plus butterflies.

I created the "Please turn me inside out" instructions for the front of the card with Microsoft Word, so it's the inside of the card that the recipient would display, which is such a fun concept!

This is also my third entry to support the "It's a Girl Thing" Blog Hop and Challenge.  I first learned about Turner Syndrome during the 2020 hop. I told you a bit about Turner Syndrome in my previous posts here and here, but did you know that girls and women with this genetic disorder have 2-3 times higher increase in fractures?  More information on Turner Syndrome can be found here, and I encourage you to learn more about it.  The goal of the blog hop and challenge is to spread awareness of Turner Syndrome to as many people as possible in hopes that the medical field will do more research on how Turner Syndrome affects girls and women throughout their lifetimes.

Giddy-up!

Hi, everyone!  I'm back again with another card.  I saw an interesting challenge at Carlin's Kaartenparadijs this month and wanted to play along.  The theme is to be inspired by a card and use another colour.  I was inspired by my own card (see below), and here is the card I made:

Both cards feature images from Beccy's Place.  For this card I used A Drover's Life, with a sentiment from Beccy's Place Fallow Fields.  The background paper on both is from We Are 3 Digital Shop Pastel Fantasy, which I recently won (thank you, Bonnie!).  I adhered a scalloped stitched frame (Gina Marie Designs) in blue glitter cardstock and then mounted on a black panel.  To finish the card, I adhered three punched stars in the same glitter cardstock.

Retro Kitty Countdown 18

Hello, everybody!  Today I'm sharing a holiday card as part of my Retro Kitty Countdown series.  I am making 25 of these countdown cards and plan to have them completed by December.  I shared #4 here and #8 here and for some strange reason I am not making them in numerical order.   I may not share all 25 but you'll definitely be seeing some of them!

This month Gecko Galz has started a monthly Christmas image challenge and they provided this cute retro image of a cat decorating a tree. Of course I could not resist!  I started with patterned paper (Adrienne Looman Gingerbread Village).  I adhered a pink snowflake-embossed cardstock panel on which I doodled stitching around the outer edge.  I adhered the freebie image along with a die-cut tree and a countdown card (Designs by Dani Merry Days Countdown Cards).  I embellished with some punched stars and a die-cut bow, along with some torn pieces left over from a die-cut frame gone wrong, all from red glitter cardstock.  Finally I added a die-cut black cat (Impression Obsession) and a self-made sentiment using Microsoft Word.  Now only 22 more Countdown Kitty cards to go!

Love Always

Hi, everyone!  I'm back with another card to share.  I made this one for Brian as a Valentine from Snowie, may she rest in peace.  You will notice a representation of our little Snowie at the bottom.  

I stamped and coloured the kitty with markers, fussy-cut so I could pop her up on foam tape, and then set her aside while I made the background.  I applied several washi tapes to a white panel along with a scrap sentiment left over from this card.  I stamped the tiny hearts above the washi tape with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide and then embossed the panel with the heart pattern.  I adhered the kitty and added three punched hearts made from a scrap of red glitter cardstock.

Turner Syndrome Hop and Butterflies

Hello, everyone!  Today I'm sharing a butterfly-themed thinking of you card using Newton's Nook stamps in support of the "It's a Girl Thing" Blog Hop and Challenge.  This is my second card for the challenge, and I wanted to use Newton's Nook stamps as they are one of the sponsors.

I first learned about Turner Syndrome during last year's hop; it's a genetic disorder where a female is born missing her second X chromosome, leaving her with life-long medical issues.  It affects one in every 2,000 to 2,500 girls but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to term (miscarriages and stillbirths).  I would like to help spread awareness of Turner Syndrome to as many people as possible in hopes that the medical field will do more research on how Turner Syndrome affects girls and women throughout their lifetimes.

I found inspiration in the watercolour challenge at Newton's Nook Inky Paws.  I hope my technique qualifies as watercolour.  I blended Distress Oxide ink through a homemade stencil onto watercolour paper and then spritzed with water.  I was inspired by the card in this video, although she did not spray hers with water.  After the paper dried, I stamped the butterflies and sentiment and then adhered a pink cardstock strip for a pop of colour.

My butterflies were also inspired by Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge 151 and I went with Inking, along with the colours of Inchworm (pale green) and Ivory (watercolour cardstock).  I'm hoping to try the Inside Out Card next!

Rest in Peace, Snowie

Hello, everyone. With great sadness I announce that we said good-bye to our sweet girl Snowie just over a week ago.  It all happened so quickly and we were not at all prepared for this sad outcome, especially so soon after we lost Kiwi.  Brian and I have shed many tears and would like to share some photos of our Snowie, who was such a bright light in our lives.  We miss you, Snowie; rest in peace.  You are forever in our hearts.

Fishing Bear

Hi, everybody!  We're already on the third weekly challenge of this month's 8th birthday celebration over at Imagine That Digistamp!  This week's theme is Birthday - Tags. These challenges have been a great way to get some birthday cards made. 

I made a coordinating card and tag with Imagine That Digistamp - Fishing Bear using the precoloured version.  Before printing, I digitally placed the bear in front of a pond scene and then placed a sky behind that.  I printed two copies, one for the card and one for the tag.  You will notice the colours on the card are more vibrant than the tag.  I used matte photo paper for the card but regular cardstock for the tag.  The matte photo paper makes a big difference but it's more expensive so I use it sparingly.  

For the card, I die-cut the scene with a stitched rectangle and layered it on to a black panel.  I created a punny sentiment in Word, fussy-cut and adhered.  Lastly I adhered a punched dragonfly, to which I added a black gem.

For the tag, I digitally added the sentiment (Polkadot Orchard - Dropping a Line) and die-cut a stitched tag.  I also added doodled stitching as the die-cut stitching didn't show up well.  I finished the tag by stapling some black ribbon.

Kitty Valentine - Love Always

Hi, everyone!  This is my third post today.  As mentioned yesterday, when I have the time and opportunity, I have to take it.  I still haven't caught up with my blog visiting yet, so I will soon be around to see you!  For this card, I'm sharing another Kitty Valentine!

I printed the Love Always digital stamp on several different patterned papers, tore the edges to paper-piece back together, and then adhered to a black card base.  I fussy-cut the cat valentine so I could pop her up on foam tape., behind which I adhered a die-cut heart doily.  I added a self-made sentiment that says "You had me at MEOW" and embellished with three sparkly punched hearts.
