Butterfly Challenge GD - Butterflies and C for Corners

Hello, everyone!  Before I share my fun news, I would like to welcome two lovely new followers - Christine Kiehl and Holley (Tondre) Barnhart - so nice to have you here!

Now for my fun news - I am delighted to tell you that I am a Guest Designer over at Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge this fortnight! Yay! This is one of my favourite challenges because I love butterflies!  If you're already playing over there, then you know each challenge theme is a different letter of the alphabet, but always including a butterfly. For this challenge our letter is C and our theme is Corners - so we would love to see a project that includes Butterflies plus C for Corners.

Well I was stumped at first! What to do, what to do! I started by die-cutting a white panel with my Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle.  I had this gorgeous sparkly butterfly in my stash and I really wanted to use it! I made a design using snippets of leftover DP (MME).  I added a butterfly in one of the corners and created a corner with gems on another.

Now that I was on a roll with the Corners theme, I decided to make a second butterfly card. I went really CAS with this one - just a butterfly in one corner and sequins in the other. I used the negative die-cut of Memory Box Oriel Butterfly. Behind the butterfly cut-out, I adhered several strips of washi tape. I love these bright spring colours! The white panel is popped up with foam tape, and I added three sequins in the opposite corner.

Please join in the fun over at the Butterfly Challenge.  Remember - our theme is Butterflies plus C for Corners.  Thank you, Mrs. A, for inviting me to be your Guest Designer!  It was an honour - and also a lot of fun!

Absolutely stunning cards Kitty! I loved that you interpreted corners as more than just using a corner punch or die (tee, hee - which is most likely what I'll do!!)

Two different and beautiful cards. I love how your designed the first card with lots of corners and the second CAS with one. Beautiful butterflies too. BTW the sunburst technique is not as hard as it looks the link gives you instructions on how to start and lay down the pieces and there are not many. I used wide two sided tape on the base and if it sticks quickly you are doomed but using glue might be a better option as you can slide the pieces together. I have done two others with patterned paper too.

How beautiful are both these cards. Love the bright pop of colour on the second one and the use of the negative. We too often chuck these, and your card shows how good they can be. You sparkly butterfly certainly needed to be showcased and you did it beautifully - love the colours and the use of corners! Thanks for sharing with us at Unstampabelles and we hope to see you back again - amazing what can be created without stamps!!

Congratulations on being the Guest Designer for the Awesome Mrs. A, Kitty! I will do my best to make it over there to play. (I have so many NBUS butterflies that you both would take turns slapping me silly if you saw them!) Both your designs are sensational! I am really loving that first one with the layout of your papers and the gems just on one corner. The butterfly is fabulous, of course! And, wow, you can't go wrong with strips of colorful Washi behind a negative die cut! No waste and a wonderful QACAS card!! Thank you so much for playing for the third time in my NBUS Challenge #4, my friend! Hugs, Darnell
