Tea Cats Pocket Letter - and I have Candy!

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to the first day of the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! My project is a Pocket Letter featuring tea and kitties! If you're unfamiliar with Pocket Letters, you can read about them here. This one will be on its way to someone shortly, with the pockets filled with crafty goodies! Quick and Easy Masculine Birthday Card

Hello, everyone!  Before I get started, I wanted to let you know that my facebook account has been locked and I have no access to it.  They did not like my name of Fit Kitty and asked for credentials.  I could not provide any government-issued ID with the name of Fit Kitty so that's that. I'm not a big facebook user and I thought about letting it go altogether, but I do seem to need it for certain things, so I've registered a new account - Karen Garber. I'm starting from scratch and will have to find all of my old friends and rejoin various groups.  So I'll eventually be around to befriend you in facebook but I wanted to warn you about it first!

Today I'm sharing a quick and easy masculine birthday card. My newest follower Bunny told me of a new challenge over at Time for Tea Designs so I wanted to join in! I searched through my files and found Moustache and Monocle Themed Digital Stamp Toppers, which was a freebie at one point. I thought it was perfect for their birthday challenge!

This card only took about 10 minutes to make.  A bit of die-cutting, a few fun cat face stickers, and it was done!

Hummingbird Shaker Card - All Dies

Hello, everyone!  Before I get started, I would like to welcome two new followers - Swissie and Bunny - thank you for joining me!  Today I made a hummingbird shaker card using all dies, no stamps!

We have hummingbirds at our feeder again this summer and they always inspire me to make some hummingbird cards!  Have you heard of Gina Marie Designs?  If you're on a tight budget like me, you will definitely want to check out her shop, called Scrapbook Outlet.  Her prices are fabulous, and I have been super impressed with her customer service. The dies cut beautifully! I am not affiliated with Gina Marie, but I have become a big fan! On my card I have used several of my new Gina Marie Designs dies:

I die-cut black craft foam to layer behind the hummingbird and sentiment to add some dimension. The frame is cut from gold mirror cardstock. The patterned paper is from ColorBok and I splattered it with black watercolour paint.  I made my own sequin mix for inside the shaker and added some sequins to the card.

Puddles of Kitty Love (Knitty Kitty DT)

Hello, everyone!  I'm back!  It has been a tough couple of months and it was not a fun time, but the repairs are done and I'm home! I have most of the unpacking and cleaning done so I wanted to make a card! It will take me a while to get around to visit everyone and see what you've been creating, but I'll eventually make it to see you.

I have not done anything crafty for two months so my skills are rusty!  I decided for my first card back to go all out and add lots of embellishments. The adorable image is from Knitty Kitty Digis, called Puddles of Kitty Love.  Even the name is cute!  I sponged Distress Ink on the background, using the die as a mask, and then coloured the image with Prismacolor pencils. I added accents with a white gel pen and some sparkle on the puddles with clear Wink of Stella.

Sneak Peek

Blog Break

Hello, everyone! I will be taking a blog break for the next couple of months. We have contractors coming to our house in April to do some insurance repairs. You might remember they were supposed to be here last fall but our case got delayed due to a large backlog of similar cases. 

We've been waiting since last March so I'm glad this is finally happening! The water damage is in nearly every room, and we have to move out of our house for 4-6 weeks! I have a lot to do to get ready so I'm starting my break now to get organized before the contractors arrive. In a few weeks, after we move out, I will have no internet service (I have no Smartphone or the like, just a desktop PC!) so I will be completely offline. I will admit I am stressed out, and being sick for over a week hasn't helped!    

On a positive note, I will be back with a special scheduled post as a Guest Designer later this month so stay tuned!  Thank you for your support!  I will see you sometime in May!

Knitty Kitty Scene Card

Hello, everyone! Before I get started, I would like to welcome my newest follower - Lilian YF - thank you for joining me!

Today I'm sharing some inspiration for the Knitty Kitty Digis Design Team!  I made a fun little scene card with the adorable Hanging Around For You digital image! I coloured it with Prismacolor pencils, mounted it on a brown scrap, rounded the corners, and popped it up with foam tape. I also added some accents with a white gel pen. I love this cute image!

I began the scene with the sky and sponged Tumbled Glass Distress Ink using a cloud mask that I made with Poppystamps Delicate Cloud Border. For the grassy hills, I die-cut several patterned paper scraps using Poppystamps Stitched Landscapes and Lawn Fawn Grass Border. I added Cheery Lynn Birch Tree and decided to add some leaves to give the tree a spring look.  I die-cut Cheery Lynn Flourish Leaf Strip, trimmed them from the strips, and adhered each leaf individually, definitely a labour of love!

Next I added a number of die-cut flowers (Impression Obsession) with a tiny red gem in the centre of each. I thought it would be fun to add some kitties so I die cut Curious Cat and one of the Friendly Kitties, both from Poppystamps. To finish off the card I added two large red metal butterflies, two small red crystal butterflies, and a tiny hummingbird charm.
