Floral Anniversary

Hi, everyone!  Before I share my card, I would like to welcome my newest follower - Amy Seigler - thank you for joining me!

Today's card was inspired by MFT Summer School - Complementary Colors at My Favorite Things.

"Complementary colors refer to colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel — yellow-purple, red-green, and orange-blue being the traditional complementary pairings." - Stephanie Klauck

Clear stamps:  MFT Stamps - Modern Blooms, sentiment from Simon Says Stamp - Happy
Dies:  Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle, Cheery Lynn Mini Dimensional Butterflies
Ink:  Your Next Stamp Lovely Lilac and Purple Passion, Simon Says Stamp Duckling, Brilliance Sunflower Yellow
Other:  Recollections butterfly punch, gems, cupped flower sequins

The Modern Blooms are layering stamps so I used my MISTI and chose a lighter and darker shade of the two complementary colours.  I started stamping the lighter shade of flowers and leaves in the lower left corner.  After I stamped one colour, I would flip my cardstock so that the upper right corner was now at the lower left and then I stamped them again.  I proceeded with each colour, first light and then dark, continuing to flip the cardstock and stamping until I was happy with the stamped pattern.  I die-cut a stitched rectangle from the stamped panel, layered it with a coordinating cardstock rectangle and some craft foam for dimension, and then adhered it back on to the stamped panel.  I stamped the sentiment in black and then finished off the card with some punched and die-cut butterflies, accented with cupped flower sequins.  Gems were added to two of the flowers.

You're Kinda Pawesome

Hello, everybody!  Today's card was inspired by MFT Summer School - Repitition at My Favorite Things, along with MFT Color Challenge 96.

"Repetition reinforces a theme within your projects. Switching things up - either by introducing another color or including an unexpected element into a recognizable pattern - keeps the overall look interesting." - Karolyn Lancon

Thank You Owl

Hello, everyone!  Before I get started, I would like to welcome my newest follower - Charlene 'White Deer' Heathwood - thank you for joining me!  If you would like to leave a link to your blog in the comments, I will hop over and follow you too!

Today I'm sharing a thank-you card that I made with all dies, no stamping!  I gave this to my Dad yesterday and he loved it!

The woodgrain-embossed kraft cardstock background was inked with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide.  I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's card shown below and on her blog here.  Her video was about creative uses for embossing folders.

Wishing You a Purrfect Day

Hello, everybody! Today's card was inspired by MFT's Summer School - Primary Colors at My Favorite Things.

"Primary colors are among the first we learn as kids and, for that reason, sometimes have a bad rap as being a childish choice for projects. Really though, primary colors are essential. Not only do they provide the basis for our other colors, they also impart such a playful cheeriness (kid card or not) that they shouldn’t be overlooked."  - Stephanie Klauck

Clear stamps:  Kitty, bird, hearts (MFT Stamps Purrfect Friends), sentiment (MFT Stamps Smitten Kitten)
Dies:  MFT Die-namics Stitched Traditional Tag Stax, MFT Die-namics Squiggle Border
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade
Other:  Twine, hole punch

Although I enjoy all colours, I am not a big fan of yellow, so I would not normally make a card using primary colours. However, I enjoyed colouring the kitty and his cute little sidekick in this colour combo.

Candy Cane Kitty Shaker

Hi, everyone!  I'm still trying to beat this unbearable heat by making winter/holiday cards!  Is it hot where you are?

Clear stamps: Newton's Nook - Newton's Candy Cane
Embossing folder: Die'sire Embossalicious Let it Snow
Other:  Diamond Stickles added to kitty's hat, sequins from my stash

This snowflake die-cut window is the offcut from the snowflake on yesterday's card.  I thought it would be purr-fect for a shaker so that's what I made!

My card was inspired by the Cute Animals theme at Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge 75.  Who can resist their sweet inspiration graphic?!

Have an Ice Day

Hi, everyone! Today's card was inspired by MFT's Summer School - White Space at My Favorite Things.

"The idea of white space doesn’t refer to a primarily white card (though often, as is the case with today’s project, this is true) but rather, the idea of leaving a significant portion of your design open, free from embellishment, allowing your focal point to truly shine."
                                                                                                              Laurie Willison

It's so incredibly hot here that I thought I might try to cool myself down by making a winter/holiday card!  I used my MFT You Make My Heart Melt stamps and coloured the image with markers.  I inked an area of the cardstock with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and added a snowflake die-cut.  I stamped the sentiment on an aqua scrap and finished it off with a few clear sequins.  Lots of white space on this card!

Feather Sympathy

Hello, everyone!  I'm back again today with another card! I've been making a bunch of sympathy cards lately for my Mom's stash as well as my own. They are good to have on hand for the time when needed.  I made the background with Distress Inks (watercolour ink smooshing) and emboss-resist.

StampsSTAMPlorations Vignette Trendy Feathers, sentiment from Gina K Designs Stippled Flowers
Die: Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle
Inks:  Distress Inks (sorry I lost my list but it looks like Picked Raspberry and Wild Honey), Versafine Onyx Black, Versamark
Other:  Embossing powder (Ranger white, The Artful Stamper silver), pink and yellow sequins

Again I'm joining the STAMPlorations 5th birthday celebration! There is so much incredible inspiration over there that I can't help myself! I feel sad that the celebration has ended, and this is my final card for their link-up.

The STAMPlorations birthday challenge is to CASE the STAMPgirls. I was inspired by STAMPgirl Harriet. I love her inky background and emboss-resist.
