Glitter n Sparkle DT - Anything but a Card

Hello, everyone!  It's Sunday, so that means we have a new challenge for you over at Glitter n Sparkle Challenge Blog! This week our challenge is Anything But a Card.  Well since I usually only make cards, this was a challenge for me!  I decided to make a shaker tag - first time I've made one of these!  I chose this adorable image called Kitty w Ornament from one of our generous sponsors, Limited Runs. I coloured it with Prismacolor pencils and fussy-cut.

I die cut two patterned papers from BoBunny's Rejoice Collection (leftover snippets) with MFT Die-Namics Stitched Traditional Tags.  I used Simon Says Stamps Stitched Rectangles to make the shaker frame.  Inside the shaker I added red and green sequins and tiny silver and gold star sequins. On the front I affixed the kitty image along with three red felt stars - I received these in a RAK from my lovely friend Monika - thank you, Monika!  I added a die-cut circle to the top of the tag (Nellie's Multiframe Circles) so I could tie some red ribbon and white eyelash ribbon.

My shaker tag was inspired by Scrap it with a Song's April challenge, where Taylor Swift's Shake it Off is the pop song.  I was inspired by the title!

Please come over and join us at Glitter n Sparkle for our Anything but a Card challenge. We have some fabulous prizes up for grabs again this week!

Happy Easter Kitty

Hello, everyone!  An Easter card all done and ready for next year!  I missed last month's challenge at Magenta so I definitely wanted to join this month for their Easter challenge.  I love playing at Magenta because it inspires me to use my Magenta stamps, which are some of the first stamps I bought when I started stamping - they bring back good memories!

I am having fun with my Distress Inks again, and today I made a double-layered stencilled background.  I used Magenta's Small Birch Forest stencil and Heidi Swapp's Doily Flower stencil, along with Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord, Tumbled Glass, and Broken China Distress Inks.  I was going for an ombre look. I stamped Magenta's Elderberry Branch in black along the bottom of the stencilled panel and added an Easter sentiment (Impression Obsession and Anita's).

I thought it would be fun to add Magenta's Cat in Spring Basket since it's an Easter card, and I coloured it with Prismacolor pencils.  The embossed panel is Couture Creations Washed Away, and I added three Impression Obsession die-cut butterflies, accented with gems.  My colour combo was inspired by Colette's Cosmic Colours challenge, and I've used 5 of the 6 colours (the green is on the leaves of the stamped image).

Here are the stamps, stencils, and Distress Inks I used:

Butterfly Music Collage

Hello, everyone!  Today I've made a collage-style card with stamped background.  I was inspired by Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge theme of Butterflies plus Music Notes.

Although I have been enjoying CAS cards lately, I also like adding lots of layers, so this was a fun card to make! Anyone who follows my blog knows I enter a gazillion challenges, and every once in a while I am lucky enough to win a random draw! Today's card features some of my prizes and I would like to thank the sponsors! First there's the background paper that covers a white card base. There are two different specialty papers - I believe they are cotton.  I won them from DL.ART - thank you, Diana! They just arrived in the mail today and I thought they would be perfect for my card. On the pale pink paper, I stamped music notes repeatedly. The paper has swirls of stitching and you can see it peeking out in a few places.

The next layer is a page out of an old song book I got at a thrift store.  I die cut it with Simon Says Stamps Stitched Rectangle, sponged Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink around the edges, and stamped a butterfly repeatedly in Brilliance Pearlescent Coral.  The clear stamp was part of a prize from the Butterfly Challenge - thank you, Mrs. A!  Next I added two butterfly postage stamps. For a focal point I used an image from Gecko Galz collage sheet called Nature's Bliss; it was a freebie at one point, either in a blog hop or from their newsletter - thank you!  I printed it on photo paper, trimmed the image, and layered it with brown and black cardstock.

The beautiful black flower was a prize from Flourish with a Bling (thank you, Lucy!), and I added two die-cut leaves (Cheery Lynn Rose Leaf Strip) that were snippets left over from another project.  The Just for You ticket sentiment is from Digital Delights.  Lastly I added a die-cut butterfly (Memory Box Kaleidoscope), cut from a leftover snippet of black cardstock, which I accented with a pink pearl from Want 2 Scrap (also in the prize from DL.ART, thank you!).

Here are the stamps used. The music notes are from Michael's:

Inky Rainbow Background with Kitty

Hello, everyone!  Today I'm sharing a kitty card I made with an adorable ScrapBerry stamp set called Thinking of You.  I made this card to send to the winner of my candy - she has received it now - Yay! I received this stamp set from a lovely friend - thank you - I love this cute kitty and I am finally inking it up!  I coloured it with Prismacolor pencils, fussy-cut, and popped up with foam tape.

I decided to make a rainbow background with Distress Inks (here's my first one, made last month). I used the same colours as before: Worn Lipstick, Dried Marigold, Mustard Seed, Crushed Olive, Broken China, and Dusty Concord.  I sponged the ink onto watercolour paper in a striped pattern. Then I spritzed water through a Heidi Swapp chevron stencil.  Still not sure if I have the hang of it yet since I'm a newbie to stencils but I'll keep practicing!

For something different, I mounted the watercolour panel at the bottom left of the card - I like this offset look! I placed fun foam behind it to pop it up. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental clear stamps, and I heat-embossed it in white on a vellum scrap. Lastly I added several sequins matching the rainbow colours. Notice I even tucked two sequins in behind the kitty!  Here are the stamps, inks, and stencil I used.

Happy Purr-day (Hero Arts stamp)

Hello, everybody!  I would like to welcome two lovely new followers - Mgtcs and Edwina - so happy to have you here!

Today I am sharing a Happy Purr-day kitty card!  I heat-embossed the kitty from Hero Arts Cat Portraits LL078 in silver, coloured with Prismacolor pencils, fussy-cut, and popped up with foam tape.  The patterned paper and glitter paper are both from Colorbok.  In real life, the blues are the same, but here in the photo the glitter paper is taking on a different shade. The embossing folder is from Elizabeth Craft, called Trendy Tiles 2, and it has been affixed to the glitter paper and popped up with foam tape.  I computer-generated the sentiment and printed it in grey to match the silver-embossed image.  I hand-cut a fish tail on one end. The circles were die cut using My Creative Time Bunch of Fun Circles. To finish it off I added three sequins.

My card was inspired by three challenges.  I designed the card based on the sketch at The Crooked Stamper.  I chose colours and shapes according to the photo inspiration at The Craft Garden.  There's an embossing challenge at A Blog Named Hero so I used both heat and dry embossing on my card.

Thank you for looking at my card!  Wishing you a joyful day!

Glitter n Sparkle DT - Include a Butterfly

Hello, everyone!  It's Sunday, so that means we have a new challenge for you over at Glitter n Sparkle Challenge Blog! This week we would like you to Include a Butterfly.  I chose an adorable kitty from one of our generous sponsors, Fitztown, called Cutie 3. I coloured the image with Prismacolor pencils, fussy-cut, and popped up with foam tape.

I made a fun little spring scene. First I created the cloudy sky by sponging Distress Ink using a cloud template (printed from Netty's Cards - thank you!).  I usually use Tumbled Glass but this time I chose Broken China for a change. I added a fun sentiment from Scribbles Designs called It's Meow or Never.  I love kitty puns! Thank you, Sandy! I also added "Come on Spring" in tiny alphabet stickers.  We still have a lot of snow on the ground here and I can't wait for spring weather to arrive!

The scene was created using a number of dies.  This is a great way to use up leftover snippets of cardstock.  Here are the dies used: Lawn Fawn Stitched Showers and Stitched Hillside Borders, Impression Obsession Small Grass Border and Tiny flowers, MFT Die-Namics Picket Fence, and Cheery Lynn Mini Dimensional Butterflies. I added tiny gems to the flowers and butterflies.

Please come over and join us at Glitter n Sparkle for our Include a Butterfly challenge. We have some fabulous prizes up for grabs again this week!

Coffee Girl (Gerda Steiner image)

Hi, everybody! Before I share my card, I would like to extend a warm welcome to my newest follower - Neli Mandel - so happy to have you here!

Today's card was made with a sweet image from Gerda Steiner called Coffee Girl. I coloured her with Prismacolor pencils, fussy-cut, and popped up with foam tape. This is a progressive challenge, so since I made a card last month using the March digi, I received this April digi for free! You can join at any time; see details here.

I created the background by spongeing Rusty Hinge Distress Ink onto Simon Says Stamp's Repeated Hearts stencil.  I inked just the area behind the image, not the entire card front. I stamped a sentiment from Clearly Besotted's A Little Sentimental clear stamps and added three sequins.  I mounted the stenciled panel onto a top-folded card, popped up with fun foam.  The right edge of the card was covered in sparkly washi tape.

I would also like to support these fun challenges:  Clique Kits April AG 1/3; Craftin Desert Diva's AG UE; Crafting from the Heart AG 1/3; Creative Fingers AG 2/3; Creative Inspirations A Trio of (Sequins) UE; Creative Ladybirds AG 1/3; DL.ART April Linky AG UE 1/day; DL.ART Thankful Thursday Let's See Orange 1/3; Fresh Brewed Blog Coffee or Tea 1/5; Inspiration Destination AG UE; Ladybug Crafts AG 2/3; Loves Rubberstamps AG UE; My Craft Creations April AG UE; Not Just Cards AG UE; Papertake Weekly AG 3/5; Party Time Tuesdays April AG 1/3; Penny's Paper-Crafty AG 2/3; {PIN}spirational Inspirational Photo (inspired by long-haired girls) 1/5; Scrappy Moms Stamps In the Kitchen UE; Sister Act (Cards Only) AG UE; Tuesday Throwdown Friendship 1/3; Word Art Wednesday AG w Uplifting Sentiment 2/5; Your Next Stamp Colour Challenge 2/3; Your Scrapbook Place AG 2/3
