Hello, everyone! Woot, woot! It's time for the 2020 Cat Lovers Hop! Are you as excited as I am? I have been looking forward to this hop all year, and it's finally here! This is the 6th year for the hop, and I have participated each and every year! Before I share my project, I would like to thank Janis at Her Peaceful Garden for organizing this fun event! I'm excited to see everyone's cat creations, so let's get hopping!
This year there's a new rule at the hop and I am pleased to see it. There is now a limit of five projects for the week, so all week I'll be sharing some retro-style, cat-themed items that I've created for my journals. Today I present a set of 3 handmade notebooks. Each one features a storybook-style kitty! I just can't resist these old-fashioned kitties - they remind me of my childhood!
To create the background on the cover, I stamped French Script (Stampin' Up) in soft pink and then decoupaged a colourful confetti napkin (Dollarama). It's the first time I've tried this technique! I adhered the flower-shaped ribbon (Dollarama) and then the storybook kitty (The Digital Chick on Etsy). I added a self-made sentiment (Microsoft Word) and a fabric scrap tab (thrift store), stapled along with a punched butterfly (Recollections) in soft pink.
And here is the inside, showing the notebook made with scraps of looseleaf and a strip of cat washi tape along the top. I added another punched butterfly on the fabric tab:
The butterflies and the colours of Egg Shell (pale creamy colour) and English Rose (delicate soft pink) were inspired by
Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge, where Challenge 148 is Spin The Butterfly Wheel with E for Envelope Fold. Here's the direct link:
