Peaceful Wishes Deer

Hello, everyone!  This month I plan to make a lot of winter and holiday cards!  Fortunately, Beccy's Place is having her Month of Holiday Cards, which is always so much fun and full of inspiration!  Thank you, Beccy!  It's an Alphabet Challenge and Day 1 is "A," so I went with antlers!

The die is Cottage Cutz Deer Snowflake Scene.  I created the inky background with Distress Oxides on photo paper. I layered several blues using the watercolour ink-smooshing technique and then dried in between each colour. It's best to work from lightest colour to darkest, but I didn't. When finished, it had a dull appearance but when wiped with a baby wipe, it became vibrant like you see here. I first saw this technique on a video here.  It's one of my favourite techniques!

I trimmed the inky background to be slighly larger than the die-cut scene.  I stamped the Stampin' Up Peaceful Wishes sentiment in Memento Paris Dusk and layered the scene onto a snowflake embossed panel (Taylored Expressions Winter Flurry).
