Two Paws! Way Up!

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to my three newest followers - Kennedy Grace, Lori T, and lovestocraft - so happy to have you here!

Today I am sharing - you guessed it - another kitty card!  Kitty cards make me happy!  I was playing with my new Docrafts Papermania Little Meow stamps  (thank you, Ike!) and this time I used the Someone Special set.  I coloured the kitty with Prismacolor pencils and fussy-cut.

Do you like my DIY patterned paper?  I tried a new technique that I saw over at Tracy Mae Design. I was inspired by her card and wanted to CASE it, but I didn't have the same products so I had to improvise. She used Distress Stain to create the background, but I used a Bingo Marker instead.  I found a few bingo markers at Dollarama, so the price was right! I got the idea to use bingo markers from Jess Crafts - I've linked to her video comparing distress stain and bingo markers - I was inspired!

I swiped the bingo marker across a 4.25 x 5.5 piece of white cardstock until I covered it. I like the unevenness of the colour! Then I dabbed some large dots randomly with the bingo marker, just like Tracy did with Distress Stain. For the gold dots, Tracy used Distress Stain again, but I only have one colour and it's not gold, so I thought I could achieve a similar look using a stencil with gold embossing powder.  I used the dots in Memory Box Flutter stencil.

I die cut the bottom edge with Spellbinders Scalloped Borders Two and used the same die to cut gold glitter paper, and then attached them together on a white card base. I added a thin strip of the gold glitter paper along the top. I affixed the cute kitty to a vellum circle (I was going to die-cut it but I found one already cut when I looked through my vellum scraps!) and affixed it to the card. The sentiment is from Penny Black Nine Lives and I stamped it in Memento Lilac Posies.  I finished off the card with some gold sequins.

I had fun trying a new technique! I made two more bingo dauber backgrounds in different colours, and I'll share them on future projects.

What a sweet kitty card. I love how you've done the background. The bingo pen works perfectly and I also like the uneven strokes that you've achieved. The gold embossed dots work really well too with the embossing powder. Barbxx

What a clever use of alternate products KT, well done! I never would have thought to substitute a bingo marker for paint, that's a terrific idea. I love the cute little image you used and I think you did a wonderful job colouring it in.
