Hello, everyone! Happy Holidays! Today I'm sharing an iris fold card. This was the first cardmaking technique I learned many years ago. I decided to revisit it today to bring back happy memories of the fun cardmaking classes I attended in the good ol' days.
When I learned iris folding, we were encouraged to save scraps of wrapping paper, patterned envelopes, etc., so I've done that over the years and it's what I've used on today's card. Actually, everything on today's card was a scrap (also known as snippet). Here are the patterned envelopes I used; they all arrived in the mail at some point, probably containing bills:

This is just beautiful I love this fold I have made them many times and even though they take a long time. I think the ahhhhh!!! factor is worth it.

Kitty, I love making IRIS folded images and your idea to use patterns from envelopes is brilliant! The patterns are just large enough to be recognized but not so large as to be lost in the design. Your card is beautiful!
I love the iris folding. It's a long process but looks so good.

Oh my gosh this is just gorgeous, who would know they are from bill envelopes. I haven't done iris folding for years. A long time ago I helped teach a group of grade 7 girls and boys iris folding, the cards were sent to the troops and one made it back to the teacher.
very lovely - I* was on a roll one time with using this fold and still have many STRIPS stored somewhere - beautiful ornament - you did a great job and love that bow glittering! So festive and fun and cool - TFS
WOW wow wow!!!! I'm speechless, Kitty!! This ornament looks just AWESOME!! You not only had a brilliant idea with the iris folding technique, but also used the recycled envelopes!! I have some in my stash too, as I love the delicate grey patterns! LOVE how the iris folding looks with the shining red centre and the glittered bow! The pine bough is just perfect to match the bauble!! I have never tried the iris technique, you have inspire me!

Funny thing is my first Iris Folding was a circle and I also used the inside of envelopes for my strips...

Honestly if you didn't include that photo of the envelopes I'm not sure if I would have believed that you used scraps. This card is so pretty and elegant you clever girl!

People of God should be bold and intentional in speaking the truth these days as we have the wisdom that this world no longer possess because of deception. Anyway, using mail envelopes to create an iris fold card is very clever. I haven't thought of that at all. It made that embellishment so unique. Great job! I haven't heard of iris folding technique. Your card has turned out great. Good to know you had fun revisiting old techniques.
