Gnome Couple

Hello, everybody! Today I'm sharing a card I made with Gerda Steiner's Gnome Couple. I received this image for free because I participated in last month's challenge. This is a progressive challenge, so if you play along this month, you will receive a new image in May for free. Yay! It is fun to receive a cute new image every month, and I always look forward to it! Thank you, Gerda! Here's a link to Gerda's April challenge.

I played with my alcohol inks to make a rainbow background! I've been excited about the alcohol ink trend! I've had my Ranger Adirondack alcohol inks for many years, and they've been collecting dust. Now I've been inspired to use them again! While I prefer to use yupo paper, this time I used scraps of glossy photo paper. These were scraps that are too small to use in my printer. You don't get the same effect as on yupo, but they are still fun. I made each colour individually and then cut them into strips to piece together into the rainbow background.

As for the gnome couple, I decided not to colour them due to the vibrant background. Instead I doodled some dots and check patterns on their outfits. I computer-generated the sentiment in Microsoft Word and punched some tiny hearts from the leftover backgrounds. The stitched heart was die-cut from a vellum scrap, and I used a pierced scalloped rectangle die to cut the rainbow panel.

I would like to support the following challenges: 613 Avenue Create Use Vellum 1/8; Ally's Angels Hearts 1/3; Cardz TV 42 AG 1/3; Crafting by Designs AG April 1/3; Crafty Creations AG 1/2; Crafty Gals Corner AG 3/3; Creatalicious AG Optional Friendship UE; Cute Card Thursday AG UE; Die Cut Diva's April AG 1/4; DigiStamps 4 Joy AG Optional Bright Colours 1/3; DL.ART April Linky AG 1/d; Gerda's Steiner April1E; Get Creative No Patterned Paper 1/3; Jo's Scrap Shack FFC228 AG 1/3; Lil Patch of Crafty Friends AG 1/3; Pammie's Inky Pinkies AG 1/3; Penny's Paper-crafty AG 1/3; Pixie's Snippet Playground 323 (used photo paper and vellum snippets, as mentioned above); Simon Says Stamp Monday Trio of Something (punched hearts) 1/5; Simon Says Stamp Work-it Wednesday Inking Technique 1/3; The Outlawz Twisted Thursday AG Optional Rain 1E; Through the Craftroom Door AG 1/2; Tuesday Throwdown Rainbow Colours 1/3; Word Art Wednesday AG w Uplifting Sentiment wk2 1/5; Your Scrapbook Place April AG 1/3

What a brilliant card! Wonderful background too. I have a load of photo paper (a printer ink supplier always used to enclose some with orders) so will be having a try at this! Free as opposed to the expensive Yupo - which I do agree is fabulous but costs so much am almost scared to use the stuff!

Lovely to see you in the Playground.

Hugs
