The Birth of Christ - Day 18 Scripture Writing

Hello, everyone. Today I am sharing my scripture-writing journal page for December 18. These verses continue on from yesterday's page (Day 17).

Luke 10-14 the angelic announcement of Jesus Christ's birth to shepherds outside Bethlehem. This passage describes an angel appearing to shepherds to announce the birth of a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. The angel provided a sign that the shepherds would find the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. A heavenly host* also appeared, praising God and proclaiming "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."  The shepherds then decided to go to Bethlehem to see the child. The passage emphasizes that God's salvation is for everyone and that Jesus' birth brings hope, joy, and peace.

*The Heavenly Host is the mighty army of God, primarily composed of angels serving as His divine forces, as protectors, warriors, and worshippers, often appearing in great numbers to announce momentous events like Christ's birth, symbolizing God's power over all creation, including celestial bodies.

The Birth of Christ - Day 17 Scripture Writing

Hello, everybody. Today I present my scripture-writing journal page for December 17. These verses continue on from yesterday's page (Day 16).

Luke 2:6-9 describes the humble birth of Jesus in Bethlehem and the subsequent divine announcement to local shepherds. While Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem for a Roman census, the time came for Mary to give birth. She delivered her "firstborn son" and, because there was no available space in the inn, she "wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger" (an animal feeding trough).  In the nearby fields, shepherds were keeping watch over their flocks at night. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

This passage highlights the humble, unadorned circumstances of the Messiah's arrival, contrasting the powerful secular decree of Caesar Augustus with God's quiet fulfillment of prophecy through a baby in a manger. The message of the Saviour's birth was first delivered not to the elite, but to lowly, common labourers, emphasizing that Jesus came for all people.

The Birth of Christ - Day 16 Scripture Writing

Hello, everyone. Today I am sharing my scripture-writing journal page for December 16. These verses continue on from yesterday's page (Day 15).

Luke 2:1-5 describes how a Roman census decree by Caesar Augustus forced Joseph and his heavily pregnant fiancée Mary to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem (David's city) to register, which fulfilled  prophecy that the Messiah would be born there, despite the difficult journey and crowded conditions.

The Birth of Christ - Day 15 Scripture Writing

Hello, everybody. Today I am sharing my scripture-writing journal page for December 15. These verses continue on from yesterday's page (Day 14).

Luke 1:76-80 is part of Zacharias' prophecy (known as the Benedictus) upon the birth of his son, John the Baptist, after Zacharias' speech was restored. The passage summarizes John's calling, message, and early life, pointing to his role as the forerunner to Jesus Christ.

If you have read my journal writings from Day 6 through to today, then you will have read the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 1, verses 39-80. You're reading the Bible!

Tomorrow I will be starting Chapter 2 of the Gospel of Luke, which will cover the journey to Bethlehem by Mary and Joseph.

The Birth of Christ - Day 14 Scripture Writing

Hello, everybody. Today I present my scripture-writing journal page for December 14. These verses continue on from yesterday's page (Day 13).

Luke 1:67-75, known as the Benedictus, is Zacharias' prophecy after his son John the Baptist's birth, praising God for visiting and redeeming His people through a mighty Saviour (Jesus) from David's line, fulfilling ancient promises to save Israel from enemies, and enabling them to serve God fearlessly in righteousness. It connects Old Testament covenants (with Abraham and David) to the coming Messiah, highlighting God's mercy, covenant faithfulness, and the salvation that brings light to darkness, setting the stage for John's role as forerunner.

The Birth of Christ - Day 13 Scripture Writing

Hello, everyone. Today I am sharing my scripture-writing journal page for December 13. Yes, I write scriptures every day, and I love it!  I find it peaceful, relaxing, and it helps me draw close to God.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.  These verses continue on from yesterday's page (Day 12).

Luke 1:62-66 describes the miraculous naming of John the Baptist: neighbours wanted to name him after his father Zacharias, but Elisabeth insisted on "John." Zacharias, who had been mute, confirmed this by writing on a tablet, and immediately his speech returned, causing awe and wonder, with people pondering what this special child would become, recognizing God's powerful hand on him. The passage signifies divine promise fulfillment, God's grace, and John's unique role as a forerunner to the Messiah, setting him apart for God's purpose.
