"It's a Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Hop and Challenge

Hi, everyone!  Today I'm sharing a card for the "It's a Girl Thing" Blog Hop and Challenge to help spread awareness of Turner Syndrome to as many people as possible in hopes of getting the medical field to do more research on how Turner Syndrome affects girls and women throughout their lifetimes.  I learned about Turner Syndrome from last year's hop; this genetic disorder only affects females, and less than 2% of babies conceived with Turner Syndrome survive to birth.  

I am happy to participate in this year's hop and challenge to help spread the word.  I hope you'll join too - you have until February 28 to participate!


I made a thinking-of-you card using a silhouette floral image and butterflies from one of the hop sponsors, Beccy's Place Fallow Fields set. The background paper is We Are 3 Digital Shop Pastel Fantasy, which I recently won (thank you, Bonnie!).  The sentiment is from Deedee's Digis (sadly no longer in business).  I adhered a scalloped stitched frame (Gina Marie Designs) in pink glitter cardstock and then mounted on a black panel.  To finish the card, I adhered three punched butterflies in the same glitter cardstock, topped with pink gems.

Vintage Cats - You are Loved

 Hello, everybody!  Today I'm sharing a love-themed Valentine card featuring vintage kitties.


Products used:
Clipart:  Cats (Taylormadecards4you Cat Valentine - this was a freebie at one point - thank you, Monica!), postage stamp (Gecko Galz Little Valentine Icons Collage Sheet) 
Digital Stamp:  Background (STAMPlorations Love A2 Card Fronts - freebie until Feb. 28 - thank you, Shery!)
Patterned paper:  Artymaze, Create with TLC
Other:  Small heart punch, red glitter cardstock scrap

I printed the You Are Loved digital stamp on two different patterned papers, tore the edges to paper-piece back together, and then adhered to a white card base.  I fussy-cut the vintage cat couple and the "Message of Love" postage stamp, and then popped up the kitties on foam tape and adhered the faux postage stamp.  I embellished with three tiny punched hearts.

Butterflies Anniversary with Herringbone Pattern

Hello, everyone.  This is my third post today but I haven't been spending much time online so I must seize the opportunity when it arises.  I woke up at 3 a.m. so here I am.  

I was inspired by Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge, where the letter is H, and the 6 elements to choose from are herringbone card, hemp, heat wave, hansa yellow, hazel, and butterfly.  I went with herringbone card, hazel, and butterflies.  I've been wanting to try the herringbone pattern for a while and I'm glad I did - it's a great way to use scraps!  

The patterned paper was part of a digital set that got messed up when my ink cartridge was running out - the colours are not right and they do not coordinate with the rest of the set.  I almost binned them but then decided to save them for a card like this.  Four pages were affected so I cut them into strips and made my herringbone pattern (see Mrs. A's instructions/tutorial here.)

Dies:  STAMPlorations Flutter Zen 2
Patterned paper:  Crate Paper Chasing Dreams misprints (ink cartridge ran out)
Other:  Black gems

On my herringbone pattern I stamped butterflies, silhouette flowers, and an anniversary sentiment.  I die-cut the butterflies, layered, and adhered.  I layered the herringbone panel on a hazel panel and then a magenta panel. To finish the card I added some black gems to the butterfly bodies.

Snowing Cupcakes

Hello, everyone!  This month there's a big 8th birthday celebration going on over at Imagine That Digistamp! There are weekly challenges and prizes so I hope you'll check out the party! We're already on Challenge 2 and the theme is Birthday with Cake/Food.  


I used Imagine That Digistamp Snowing Cupcakes (precoloured version) and added the birthday sentiment and an oval frame (Raspberry Road Designs) before printing.  I fussy-cut the oval and adhered to a white card base that was embossed with Die'sire Embossalicious Let it Snow.  I finished the card with three snowflake sequins.  


As mentioned in my previous blog post, there's also an 8th birthday party going on over at Scribbles Designs.  The theme of their challenge is the Power of Eight, for which our card or project must have a total of eight items on it, no more and no less.

Another Fitness Tracking Calendar

Hi, everyone!  Today I'm sharing another fitness calendar that I made to help keep me on track with my exercise goal this year.  I have already shared my calendars for January, February, and March, and today I'm skipping ahead to May.  If you'd like to see my April calendar, please mention it in the comments (I have a feeling people would rather see cards, but maybe I'm wrong.)  

I'm still working towards my goal and my calendars do motivate me!  Writing it down is a great way to keep track.  My aim is to be active 30 minutes a day, with either walking, light hand-weights, or qigong.  So far I'm averaging 3-4 times a week, but that's better than I was doing before. 


For those who didn't see it last month, Scribbles Designs is celebrating their 8th birthday!  The theme of their challenge is the Power of Eight, for which they would like us to create a project that has a total of eight items on it, no more and no less.  This is not as easy as it looks, but I did it!

Cupcake Bunny and Mouse

Hello, everybody!  Today I'm joining the February progressive challenge at Imagine That Digistamp. I received this Digi-of-the-Month set for free since I participated in last month's challenge (thank you, Kris!).  It's called Birthday Bunny and I went with the precoloured version of the circular image. The set also has the image without the circle, as well as black-and-white for those who enjoy colouring.


I printed the image twice so I could layer it with foam tape for dimension.  I die-cut the circle and then fussy-cut the bunny/cupcake.  I added Spectrum Noir clear sparkle to the cupcake icing and Glossy Accents to the strawberries, balloon, and bunny's eyes.  The sentiment is also from the same set. Below is a close-up so you can get a better view of the layering.


I printed one of the sentiments included in the set on a white panel, die-cut with a stitched rectangle (Gina Marie Designs), and then embossed it with a cupcake embossing folder (Cuttlebug Once Upon a Princess).  I layered the white panel on a pink card base.

Chair Kitty

Hello, everyone!  There's a big party all month over at Imagine That Digistamp!  Kris is celebrating Imagine That Digistamp's 8th birthday as well as her own birthday!  There are weekly challenges and prizes so I hope you'll check out the celebration!  I'm nearly late for the first week's challenge but there's still time to join!  The theme is birthday, along with ribbon and/or bow.  I went with a die-cut bow for mailing purposes as I find ribbon too bulky, requiring extra postage (learned the hard way!).


For this challenge, you may use any company's products, but I went with images from Imagine That Digistamp.  I used Kitty with Balloon (this is an older image which I believe is retired) and I Chair-ish You, using pre-coloured images for both.  I fussy-cut the chair and the kitty so I could pop them up with foam tape.  I added Spectrum Noir clear sparkle to the kitty's pompom and Glossy Accents to the balloon and pillow buttons.  The sentiment is from the kitty set and I printed it on patterned paper from the chair set, die-cut with a stitched rectangle (Gina Marie Designs) and then mounted the panel on a red card base.  Below is a close-up so you can get a better view of the layering.
