Butterflies, Paper Piercing, and Fern Green

Hello, everyone!  I have been sick with the flu since last week but I'm starting to feel a bit better! I hope to be around to visit your blogs soon!  I made a few cards for challenges that are soon ending so I need to get them posted!  I have several cards to share today - this is the first of three blog posts!

This card was inspired by Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge!  The theme is P for paper piercing, along with the colour fern, plus butterflies.  I googled the colour fern and there were several shades that qualified so I went with the colour you see here.  I have been neglecting my butterflies for way too long, so thank you for inspiring me, Mrs. A!

Can you see my paper piercing?  I haven't tried this technique in many years and since I've never been very good at it, I did just a bit in the lower corner.

All products used are listed below.
  • Dies:  Cheery Lynn Pair of Ferns, Marianne Designs Branch Forest, Memory Box Lunette Butterfly and Oriel Butterfly, Impression Obsession Butterfly Set
  • Embossing folder:  Leafy vines (unmarked)
  • Patterned paper:  K and Company
  • Clear stamps:  Sentiment (Clearly Besotted)
  • Ink:  Simon Says Stamp Willow
  • Other:  Flat-back pearls (Forever in Time), paper-piercing template (Stampin' Up)

I've used lots of leftovers/snippets for my die cuts, including some vellum and patterned paper, so I'll be joining Pixie's Snippets Playground Week 269/270 as well.

I would also like to support these fun challenges: Allsorts AG 1/3; Cardz TV AG Designers Challenge 1/3; Crafty Creations AG 1/2; Crafty Friends AG 1/3; Crafty Gals Corner Use Your Favourite Things (dies, embossing folders, stamps) 1/2; Creative Fingers AG 1/3; Creative InspirationsAG UE; Dies R Us Think Spring 1/3; DL.ART February Linky AG UE 1/d; HIMCR Embossing 1/3; Jo's Scrap Shack AG 1/3; Little Patch of Crafty Friends AG 1/3; Little Scrap Pieces Show it Off Saturday AG 1E; Not Just Cards Spring 1/5; Penny's Paper Crafty AG 1/3; Scrapy Land Add Texture 1/3; The Corrosive AG 2/3; The Crafter's Cafe No Red or Pink 1/3; Word Art Wednesday Week 270 AG w uplifting sentiment 1/5

  7. This is gorgeous, Kitty. Love the beautiful butterfly with the fern color. Perfect for that challenge. I like the tiny little butterflies with the pearls, too.

Sorry you had the flu. How yucky. My poor husband had it last year. It can be so draining on you. Fortunately he's always a good patient. He doesn't make for a good nurse though.

  22. Beautiful Butterflies, lovely die cuts and of course the paper piercing. (boy you can get that confused with piecing, (I first read that, lol) I have a paper piercing set from SU but you can make one from a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 piece of plastic canvas. it helps with keeping lines straight and placing of brads too.

  26. Beautiful! I am glad you are feeling better, and could share this delightful Spring card - it's so elegant with the white embossed background and white layers! The flu is especially tiring for people like us - I've only had the flu 2-3 times in the past 20 years, but it completely wipes me out for weeks, and triggers all my symptoms. I hope that does not happen for you! Sending healthy thoughts and prayers, KT - love, de

  38. Well we were both lucky in the Butterfly Challenge this time weren't we. Thanks for visiting me today. I was coming over to see you this afternoon anyway to find out what make that lovely big butterfly die is. memory box is a make I can get fairly easily online, so I shall look out for it. I love your card. green is not my first choice for making cards, but you have used a lovely muted shade of it, and just enough to meet the criteria for the challenge. Enjoy your prize. Kate x
