Day 2 - 2020 Cat Lovers Hop (Vellum Pockets)

Hi, everybody! This is the second day of the 2020 Cat Lovers Hop!  Are you hopping with us?  If you love cats, then this hop is the place to be!  This fun annual event has been going on for six years and has been expertly organized by Janis at Her Peaceful Garden - thank you, Janis!  Now let's get hopping!

I mentioned yesterday that all week I'll be sharing some retro-style, cat-themed items that I've created to decorate my journals. Today I present a set of 3 vellum pockets with coordinating journal cards.

I was inspired by Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge, where Challenge 148 is Spin The Butterfly Wheel with E for Envelope Fold. Here's the direct link:
https://butterflyspotchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/10/148-spin-butterfly-wheel-with-e-for.html

I went with Version 1 of Mrs. A's Envelope Fold tutorial. This was a stashbuster for me because I've had this Dollarama patterned vellum in my stash for about 15 years!  It felt so good to finally use it!  I added washi tape along the edges and used more of my storybook cats (The Digital Chick on Etsy), each backed with a mini doily (Doodlebug).  The bows are stickers from my stash, and the butterflies are a punch.  The sentiments are self-made with Microsoft Word.

As for the journal cards inside the vellum pockets, see the photo below.  I used digital notepaper (favpng.com) and digitally added the word "Notes" at the top, and the coordinating cat at the bottom.  I love how they turned out!

I would also like to join the following challenges:

  32. What a creative way to turn Mrs. A's envelope fold card design into sweet little vellum pockets for journals. I like the way you used these vintage kitties on all of your projects this week. Each day's projects are completely different, but the kitties tie them together.
I'm glad to see many of my Cat Lovers Hop friends back again this year...and it's all due to Janis..yay!

I absolutely love these wonderful decorated vellum envelopes with the journaling cards inside!! What a find that was at Dollarama....patterned vellum??? I am seriously swooning here! Way to go on stash-busting, though. I know how good that feels. These are so cute with the washi borders and the doilies and adorable vintage kitties.
