Mixed Media Kitty 3

Hello, everyone!  Here's my third and final mixed media card!  Definitely not my usual style, but I like to challenge myself to try new things! (You can find the other two cards here and here.)

My cards are being sent to Mister Harley, a beautiful cat belonging to Jenn Shurkus Creative Chick, on the occasion of his upcoming 10th Birthday.  Happy Birthday, Mister Harley!  For every card that Mister Harley receives, Jenn will donate $1 to her local SPCA.  How could I resist making a card for a kitty, and helping out a charity in the process?!  Since I have 3 cats, I have made 3 cards, one from each of my kitties!  This card is from Snowie!

  • Stamps:  Cat (Lost Coast Designs - Party Hat Cats), sentiment (C. C. Designs Meoples Meowy), background (Heidi Swapp Chevron)
  • Ink:  Stamping (Versafine Onyx Black, Versamark, Stampin' Up Going Grey), Distress Oxides (Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, Broken China, Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers), Distress Ink (Hickory Smoke)
  • Dies:  Wonky stitched tag and chevron strip
  • Other:  Metallic Silver Acrylic Paint (Dollarama), embossing folder (Darice Pawprint Background), Ranger white embossing powder, tiny heart punch, Glossy Accents, sparkly flowers from my stash

Here's how I made my card:
  • Using a leftover scrap of Distress Oxide ink-smooshed background, I stamped the kitty, fussy-cut, and applied Glossy Accents over the glass.
  • I stamped the chevron background in grey on pale blue cardstock, die-cut into a tag shape, sponged around the edges with Distress Ink, and then adhered the stamped kitty with foam tape.  I heat-embossed the sentiment in white, fussy-cut, and adhered to the tag.
  • For the background, I applied silver acrylic paint in a vertical strip on navy cardstock and when dry, embossed with pawprint background.
  • Lastly I adhered the tag with foam tape, adhered the chevron strips, mounted on a white card base and then embellished with some sparkly flowers and a punched heart on kitty's hat.

I would like to support the following challenges: Archi-scraps Chevrons and the Colour Blue; Card Mania Embossing 3/3; Crafty Calendar Add a Tag or Make One 2/3; Craft Stamper Take it Make It March 3/3; Crafting by Designs March AG 3/3; Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday All Creatures Great and Small 3/3; Happy Little Stampers AG with Dies UE; Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge Optional Twist Home UE; Jo's Scrap Shack FFC224 AG 3/3; Lost Coast Designs AG UE; Penny Black and More Feature a Creature 3/3; Show Us Your Pussies Cats Only Furrything Goes UE; Simon Says Stamp Happy National Craft Month UE and on Facebook; The Outlawz Festive Friday Favourite Animal (cat); 2 Crafty Critter Crazies AG Animals 4/5; Word Art Wednesday 324-325 AG w Uplifting Sentiment Wk1 4/5

  3. It's a great example of multi-mixed media, and I think it turned out great! Enjoyed reading the how-to, and your glass holding Mr. K really does look like a glass! Love the streaking technique and those embossed pawprints look perfect as a textured background. Well done! TFS

  7. Another so clever mixed media, and this time is from Snowy! I realized just now that the cards are one from your any your kitties! :D Great! :)
Love any detail of this card!! Fab colors! The tag makes the whole design very interesting! Great idea put the glossy accents on the glass! And those sparkling cute white flowers are just delicious! You have stamped the chevron, too!! It seemed to me a patterned paper! The chevron strip looks great and love that balloon with the sentiment! Love so much the paws embossed background! You really makes amazing mixed media, my friend! Waiting to see more of them! :)
Hugs Kitty, have a lovely weekend! Make some cuddles to your furry babies from me! ;)
