Happy Anniversary Kitties

Hello, everyone!  Before I share my card, I would like to welcome my newest follower - Mrs Kreatywna - I am happy to have you here!

I was looking around blogland and spied a couple of challenges that inspired me. With my mojo still missing, I decided to go with it anyway!

My inspiration came from the sketch at Jo's Scrap Shack, the colours at Cupcake Inspirations, and the pop song at Scrap it with a Song (I was inspired by the love theme of Adele's "Love Song"):

I cut navy and white cardstock on the diagonal and pieced them together, embossed with Cuttlebug Cross My Heart, and added a strip of gold glitter paper and gold-trimmed ribbon along the diagonal. The cats are from Marianne Design - A Pair of French Cats, which I die-cut from left-over navy cardstock that has been in my stash for about 10 years!  I affixed them to a circle of gold specialty paper, die-cut with Nellie's Multiframes, and used a white Signo Uniball pen and a navy Staedtler Lumocolor marker to draw dots around the circle and along the diagonal edges. The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts Everyday Sayings, and I added two glittery punched hearts.

I would also like to join the following challenges:  Craft Your Passion AG 3/3; Crafting by Designs August AG 1/3; Crafty Gals Corner AG 2/2; Creative Ladybirds AG 3/3; Crop Stop Linky Party #6 AG 2/3 (Cuttlebug embossing folders available at Crop Stop)DL.ART July Linky UE 1/day; Inspiration Destination AG UE; Not Just Cards July UE; Penny's Paper-Crafty Use Ribbon or Twine 1/3; Pixie's Snippet Playground All die cuts and cardstock from snippets 2/3; Simon Says Stamp Wednesday AG 2/5; Sister Act (Cards Only) AG UE; The Corrosive To Die For 3/3; The Outlawz Twisted Thursday AG 1/2; Word Art Wednesday AG w Uplifting Sentiment 2/5

Butterfly Challenge GD - Butterflies plus W for Washi Tape

Hello, everyone!  I promised I would be back from my blog break on July 29 with a special post, and here it is!  But before I get started, I would like to welcome two new followers - Kociary Scrapbookingowe and Patricia St. Martin - thank you both for joining me!

Now for my fun news! I am delighted to tell you that I am a Guest Designer over at Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge. This is my second time - Yay!  It's one of my favourite challenges because I love butterflies!  If you're already playing over there, then you know each challenge theme is a different letter of the alphabet, but always including a butterfly. For this challenge our letter is W and our theme is Washi Tape - so we would love to see a project that includes Butterflies plus W for Washi Tape. Normally the challenges run for two weeks, but this challenge will run for four weeks.

If you've been following my blog for awhile, then you already know that I have quite a collection of washi tape in my stash. I enjoy any opportunity to use it, so I was thrilled when Mrs. A told me the theme for this challenge.

The great thing about washi tape is that you can make a beautiful card quickly. I used four different kinds here, along with some butterfly stickers from Dollarama. The larger butterfly is 3-D and it really pops off the card. The sentiment is made from tiny alphabet stickers from Jillibean Soup. I finished off the card by adding some sequins on the body of the large butterfly and a scattering of smaller sequins in the corner. The corners are rounded and the white panel is mounted on a brown panel. I just realized there is no stamping on this card, which is unusual for me.

Please join the fun over at the Butterfly Challenge and remember to include Butterflies plus W for Washi Tape. Thank you, Mrs. A, for inviting me to be your Guest Designer! It was an honour - and a pleasure!

It's Your Bird-day!

Hello, everybody! Although I am still on my blog break, I wanted to celebrate my friend Becca's Birthday over at The Damsel of Distressed.  Happy Birthday, Becca - I hope you had a good one! Becca is having a birthday link-up and has provided a mood board (see below).  I chose the cute bird and pun as my inspiration. The image is From the Heart Stamps' stamp of the month for July. I was planning to take a break from the progressive challenges this month, but I ended up receiving the image anyway.  I'm thinking my email request may have gone astray.  In this case, it worked out great because this cute Inner Tube Birdbrain is a perfect way to celebrate with Becca!

My crafty mojo is almost non-existent these days, so this card took much longer to make than it should have.  I hope I get my mojo back soon!  I coloured the image with Prismacolor pencils and created a scene around him.  The sky was made by sponging Tumbled Glass Distress Ink using a homemade cloud template. For the waves, I sponged Salty Ocean Distress Ink on a number of die-cut wave borders (Taylored Expressions).

For the sun, I inked the Lawn Fawn die-cut with Mustard Seed Distress Ink.  The cute little jellyfish and starfish were already coloured, cut, and covered in Glossy Accents - they were part of a prize I won from Little Scrap Pieces (thank you, Karen, I love them!).  I stamped a little fish (Neat and Tangled Meowwww), coloured it with Prisma pencils, fussy cut, and added Glossy Accents.  The seagulls are from Newton's Nook Flirty Flamingos.  As for the sentiments, I used two puns: "It's Your Bird-day" is from From the Heart Stamps Birthday Candle Birdbrain, and "Best Fishes" was a freebie from Crafty Paws.

Here's Becca's inspirational mood board

More Christmas in July

Hello, everyone!  I am still on my blog break but I decided to pop in and share a couple of cards I made for some "Christmas in July" challenges. Before I begin, I would like to welcome five new followers - rebeccaaltamirano, terriavidreader (IN-USA), Dr Sonia S V, Susan Renshaw, and ToTylkola - so happy to have you here!

Being on a blog break, I have also taken a break from the progressive challenges for awhile, but I just couldn't help myself after the sweet and generous Kris over at Imagine That... Digis by Kris sent me this month's digi anyway - in the spirit of Christmas - and I am so happy she did!  Thank you, Kris! My followers know I like to make at least two Christmas cards a month, so my goal has been achieved!

Card #1
Isn't this Treat Stand adorable! I couldn't resist joining the Digi of the Month (DOTM) challenge! There was also a bonus coupon this month for Baking Mice, and I chose the cute Chef Freddy - see Card #2 below. Both cards were quick ones - I don't have any crafty mojo these days!  I used precoloured images, fussy-cut them, and popped up with foam tape.  For card #1, with Treat Stand, the image, sentiment, and paper are all part of the DOTM set. I used Poppystamps Stitched Landscapes to die-cut the border and added a strip of red glitter tape, also cut with the same die. A star-shaped brad that says "holiday cheer" finished it off.

I hope you will consider joining the Imagine That... Digis by Kris DOTM challenges yourself - everyone who participates is a winner because you will receive next month's digi for free.  Each digi comes with an image you can colour, a pre-coloured image for quick cards, a number of sentiments, and sometimes there are digital papers or more than one image (like this month) - it's an awesome deal!

Lisa over at Decosse's Dynamite Doodles is also having a challenge for anyone using a Christmas or winter-themed digi from Imagine That... Digis by Kris so head over and check it out! She has a lovely prize up for grabs!

For Card #1, I would like to join these 10 challenges:
  1. Craftin Desert Diva's Christmas in July UE
  2. Decosse's Dynamite Doodles Christmas in July with ITDK
  3. Dies R Us Christmas in July 1/3
  4. DRS Designs A Stitch in Time UE
  5. Emerald Faeries Christmas in July 2/3
  6. Imagine That... digis by Kris July DOTM Treat Stand
  7. Little Claire's Digi Holiday Theme (Christmas) 2/3
  8. Paper Creators Crafts Christmas in July 2/3
  9. Rudolph Day July 1E
  10. The 12 Months of Christmas Link-up July Optional Ornaments (hoping the Christmas treat stand is considered an ornament) 2/3

Here's my card #2, using Chef Freddy, which I received as a "Christmas in July" bonus for being a participant in the ITDK DOTM challenges. The sentiment and image are both part of the set. Again I used Poppystamps Stitched Landscapes to die-cut the image and the red glitter tape. The striped dp is from my stash and I added a snowflake charm at the bottom corner.

Card #2

I used most of the colours in the Cosmic Colours inspiration swatch shown below so I'm linking up there as well.

Christmas in July

Hi, everyone!  I'm still on my blog break but I'm popping in quickly to join a few of the "Christmas in July" challenges. The one that inspired me most is the CASE-ing Christmas challenge and blog hop.

I really don't have any crafty mojo right now, but for this challenge, I only needed to CASE a previous non-Christmas card of my own.  That is something I could do!  I won this adorable penguin called Finn's Scarf from Beccy's Place last month (thank you, Beccy!).  He is just so cute!  I coloured him with Prismacolor pencils, fussy-cut, and popped up with foam tape.

I followed the design of the card that I CASE'd, originally posted here.

The washi tape and sequins are from my stash, and the stamped sentiment is an older wood-mount from Plaid.

Taking a Break

Hello, everyone!  Before I get started, I would like to extend a warm welcome to my newest follower - Borqna - so happy you joined me!

No card to share today.  I am taking a break from blogging for July, maybe a bit longer.  However, I will be back on July 29 with a special scheduled post, and I'll also be here on July 30 to announce my candy winners (please join my 300 Followers Celebration giveaway here).
