Washi Tape Snowflake

Hi, everybody!  I'm back today with a CAS holiday card using washi tape.  I was inspired by my friend Donna and her set of washi tape cards.  When I saw a new way to use washi tape, I had to try it for myself.  I'm always looking for washi tape inspiration because I seem to have collected a small hoard of it!

I added three strips of washi tape to a white panel and die cut a snowflake (Lawn Fawn's Stitched Snowflakes).  I die-cut several more snowflakes, five I think, to layer beneath the top one.  The sentiment stamp is an old wood-mounted stamp from Plaid/All Night Media and I stamped it in Brilliance Mediterranean Blue. I finished off the card with three silver sequins.

I'm playing along over at Rudolph Day, which has a new home this year with Scrappy Mo, and I'm also supporting these other fun challenges:

Thank you for looking at my card!  Wishing you a joyful day!

Dachshund in Love (Gerda Steiner image)

Hello, everyone!  Today I am sharing a card I made for the progressive challenge over at Gerda Steiner Designs.  Since I participated last month, I received this month's Dachshund in Love image for free.  He's so cute!  I coloured him with my Prismacolor pencils and stamped a sentiment on his heart balloon.  I'm still on a shaker card kick so I made another one!

I placed the image behind the shaker window and filled it with all kinds of sequins in red, pink, white, and gold; the red are heart-shaped.  I wanted to play along over at My Creative Time so I followed their Photo and Colour Inspiration (see below) and used My Creative Time Scalloped Stitched Oval Dies to make a frame around the shaker.  The DP is from MME Love Me 6x6 pad and I added a few more heart sequins to the corners to finish it off.

Glitter n Sparkle DT - Pearls and Swirls

Hi, everyone!  It's Sunday, and that means there's a new challenge starting today over at Glitter n Sparkle Challenge Blog! This week our theme is Pearls and Swirls!  I hope you can join us!  I chose this adorable image from Bugaboo Digi Stamps called Garden Bunny and I coloured it with my Prismacolor pencils.

With our theme of Pearls and Swirls, I want to make sure you notice my beige pearls at the top left corner and white pearls in the large flower stamen. And I've definitely got lots of swirls!  I used Memory Box Magic Flourish on the left-hand side, MB Quinn Flourish under the flower, and a swirly watering can and garden tools from Tattered Lace.  The other die cuts on my card are Cheery Lynn Sienna Double Edge Border, Bunny, and Ivy Strip.

The metal butterfly and the butterfly charm are from my stash. I wanted to play along in the Butterfly Challenge so I added three green brads from Making Memories at the bottom right corner.  The big flower was in a package of Recollections flowers I won from Becca - thank you! The small flowers are from I Am Roses.  Patterned paper is from Doodlebug, Carson Dellosa, and Momenta.  The ticket sentiment is from Digital Delights.

Please come over and join us at Glitter n Sparkle for our Pearls and Swirls challenge. We have some fabulous prizes up for grabs again this week, so I hope you'll play along!

More Butterflies (Penny Black stamp)

Hi, everyone!  I've made another butterfly card with distress ink background.  This background is a bit paler than the card I showed last night but it's the same ink combo (Seedless Preserves and Shaded Lilac).  This was the leftover ink remaining on the craft mat.  Then I embossed the panel with Cuttlebug Cross My Heart folder and die cut a row of hearts (Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card).

I layered the panel onto silver mirror paper which was die cut with Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes, and then mounted on DCWV mauve cardstock. As in yesterday's card, this one also features my new Penny Black Social Butterfly stamps.  I heat-embossed another one of the butterflies, twice, in Aegean Silver (The Artful Stamper) and added silver sequins. The Happy Anniversary sentiment is a silver peel-off sticker.  To finish it off, I added some sparkly silver ribbon.  The card makes quite a statement in person with all the silver and sparkle!

I would like to support these fun challenges:

  2. Penny Black Saturday New (new technique, new stamps) UE
  3. Red Carpet Studio Frozen / Use Something Glittery (sparkly embossing powder, sparkly ribbon) 1/3 C4

Heart Shaker Card (Newton's Nook stamp)

Hello, everyone!  One of my favourite styles of cards to make lately is a shaker card, and this time I've made a heart shape!  My card was inspired by a few challenges.  First there's the Inky Paws Challenge to Use a Heart Shape over at Newton's Nook Designs - I just can't resist this one!  I used a stamp from Newton's Antics and coloured it with my Prismacolor pencils.  These two kitties are cuddled up together and they look so cute!  I die cut a small banner shape (MFT) for them to cuddle on!

For the heart shaker, I used my Spellbinders Classic Hearts.  The back of the shaker is embossed with Cuttlebug Cross my Heart.  The dp is from s-e-i.  Inside the shaker I added lots of fun sequins; some are heart-shaped.  I added a Twirled Heart Border from Memory Box as well.

My colour inspiration came from Colette's Cosmic Colours Challenge #9.  Here are the colours, and I have used four of them.

There are a number of heart-themed challenges going on now that also helped my inspiration (see below).

Cosmic Strawberry

Happy Anniversary (Penny Black stamps)

Hello, everyone!  I've been playing with my new Distress Inks again!  Today I tried something new - creating a background using reinkers and stencilling.  I used Seedless Preserves and Shaded Lilac on the craft mat, sprayed with water, and placed my watercolour paper in the mix.  I selectively stencilled Prima Crackle in Black Soot DI and did the same with Simon Says Stamp's Falling Snow using Snow Cap Acrylic Paint.  It's fun playing with inks!  To add more texture, I embossed the panel using Elizabeth Crafts Butterflies folder.

I've been on a butterfly kick lately!  Today I used my new Penny Black Social Butterfly stamps and heat-embossed one of the butterflies twice in Aegean Silver (The Artful Stamper) - the sparkle looks amazing!  I did the same with Penny Black's Anniversary sentiment.  I fussy-cut the butterflies and attached each with a black brad.  The die-cut butterfly border is from Joy!crafts.  The cardstock is DCWV - it's a mauve colour.

Uniko Studio GD - Love and Friendship

Hello, everyone!  As Guest Designer at Uniko Studio this fortnight, I have made another card for our Love and Friendship challenge!  I hope you will come over and join in the fun!

I thought an anniversary card would fit this theme nicely.  For something a little different, I created my own background by stamping the flower from Flower Power #6 clear stamps repeatedly with various inks (listed below) and also heat embossing it in gold and clear.  It was fun!

Next I heat embossed the small butterfly from English Country Garden - Butterflies clear stamps twice, each in copper on the outer edge and gold in the center.  I fussy-cut and attached, adding gold sequins to each one.  I heat-embossed the Happy Anniversary sentiment in gold on a vellum strip.

Here's a list of other products used:
Ink:  Ancient Page - Mandarin, Sienna, Sunburst, Saffron; Brilliance - Sunflower Yellow, Rocket Red Gold; SU - Only Orange, Apricot Appeal
Embossing powder:  The Artful Stamper - Gold, Clear, Copper Pearl
Cardstock:  SU - Apricot Appeal and Only Orange
Sentiment:  A Muse Artstamps

Thank you to Uniko Studio for having me as your Guest Designer! It was my pleasure!

I hope you will head over to Uniko Studio to see the inspiration by the Design Team. There's still plenty of time to play along in our Love and Friendship challenge - it's open until Friday, January 30, at 8 a.m. GMT.  Please come over and join us!

Hello, everybody!  Before I share my card, I would like to welcome two lovely new followers - Jeri Parks and UTs Hobby Time - so happy you joined me!

I like to play in a few of the progressive challenges.  Today I'm joining Imagine That... digis by Kris. These challenges are fun because as long as you use the current Stamp of the Month image, then you receive next month's challenge set for free, and so on!  I missed out last month but as luck would have it, the January digi Football Humphrey is offered for free so anyone can join!  Thank you, Kris!

I mentioned before that one of my goals this year is to make more boys'/men's cards so this image is perfect!  I coloured Football Humphrey with my Prismacolor pencils and fussy-cut.  I made a scenic background using snippets of leftover DP (Cosmo Cricket, MME, BoBunny).  Dies used are Lawn Fawn's Spring Showers and Stitched Hillside Borders.  The sentiment is a clear stamp from Heidi Grace.

Glitter n Sparkle DT - Cute

Hi, everyone!  It's Sunday, and that means there's a new challenge starting today over at Glitter n Sparkle Challenge Blog! This week our theme is Cute!  I hope you can join us! Our sponsor is the fabulous Pink Gems Designs!  For my image I chose an adorable kitty called Meg with Flowers and coloured it with my Prismacolor pencils. So cute!

I die-cut the image with My Creative Time Scalloped Stitched Circles.  I decided to follow the sketch over at MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  This is the first time I've played there!  I don't own many MFT products but I used a border die from my Die-Namics Dotted Scalloped Trio set and an arrow banner from my Die-Namics Accent It Labels and Tabs set. They were cut from sparkly decorative tape.

The sentiment stamp is from Penny Black and I added the word friend with my Dymo Label Maker. The dp is from Colorbok. The butterfly is from Memory Box and it is attached with a silver brad.  Lastly I used two green sequins.

Please come over and join us at Glitter n Sparkle for our Cute challenge. We have a fabulous prize from Pink Gems Designs up for grabs, so I hope you'll play along!
