Quick is good

Hello, everyone!  I give out a lot of cards, and sometimes there are people on my list who don't appreciate a handmade card. Do you know anyone like that? For those people, I make a quick and simple card because I know they will throw it away after Christmas.  What do you do?

Here's what I do. It's still hand-made, but I didn't invest a lot of time.  If this card looks familiar, it's because I CASE'd my card from last week using an image from a recycled card from last year.  I added some sparkly silver ribbon tied in a triple-looped bow and a sparkly snowflake with red gem. The sentiment is an old wood-mounted stamp from Plaid/All Night Media, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.

  4. It's adorable and doesn't look 'quick & easy' either. Yes, I have some family members (who do no crafts) and refer to the cards as 'homemade'. You get the feeling they think I was too cheap to go buy a card. And I could buy one at Hallmark that would be less costly than a handmade one! (as I'm sure you know). For one of these folks, I gave a Hallmark card & then to another family member, a handmade card. I heard "What happened to MY handmade card from you?". I don't expect anybody to regard things I made as heirlooms, but it's nice if they appreciate that I spent time making a card just for them. My time is valuable, even if my skills are not! And your card today is a treasure. Bright & Merry and made especially by you! TFS - Merry Christmas. Hugs

  7. Very cute and festive and a great idea to recycle cards for people that don't appreciate the work and effort that goes into putting a beautiful card together. My family and most of my friends do keep my cards, but those that I know don't, I too send them the ones that took the least amount of time and the least amount of supplies :-)
Thanks for joining in the fun at Hiding in My Craft Room.
Wishing you and yours and very Blessed Christmas 

  8. How wonderful - I love the little penguin. This card certainly doesn't look quick either. It's fabulous. I feel sometimes the same way about my cards to people but it makes a huge difference when I also have other friends who say that my cards are framed up and on their walls :-D
I just don't get to think about the 'thrown away' ones so not to bother myself :-)
Hugz and merry festive wishes little Kitty :-D

  12. This is so cute Kitty. Yes I know lots of people that just through the cards away and some have been very expensive to make. They don't even think to save bits off of it to give me back to make something else.

  17. Hehe. It is so hard to send my little merries off into the world knowing they might end up in somebodies trash can the next week. This is such a good solution to that problem and such a great way to recycle, too!
