Salt Dough Ornament - Kitty in Red

Hello, everyone.  I'm back again today, this time with a Salt Dough Ornament.  By now you all know that I'm playing along with the "12 Days of Christmas" challenges going on at Mark's Finest Papers.  My goal is to complete all 12 challenges.  Now I should tell you that before I started making cards, I was not crafty at all, so there are many creative projects that I've never tried - this being one of them.  So glad MFP provided a tutorial.  And I should also tell you that I do not like to bake - so I really stepped outside  my comfort zone with this one.  I made six salt dough "cookies" and I am going to post 5 of them, all in separate blog posts, so you will have to bear with me LOL.  Here is Salt Dough Ornament #1:

Here are the supplies used:
  • Stamp:  Cat (Stampendous)
  • Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
  • Colouring medium:  Tombow watercolour markers, Uni-ball Signo white gelly roll pen
  • Ribbon:  Offray
I would like to enter the following challenges:
Bunny Zoe's Ribbon UE
Charisma Cardz #43 Anything but Cards 3E #2 C10
Christmas Stamping All Year Long #40 Treats from the Kitchen (inspired by food - I baked it like a cookie) 1E
Craft My Life Anything Goes - No Cards UE

Crafty Ribbons #68 Anything Goes with Ribbon 5E #4

Thank you for looking at my little project - I enjoy your comments.  Wishing you a wonderful day of crafting.

  8. Hi Kitty, I found out that if you use acrylic paint and cover the whole thing, that acts as a sealant. Spray Polyurethane was the recommended sealant-just make sure they're dry on the sprayed side when you flip them over!

  10. So cute!! Great job for your first try, I never would have guessed you hadn't done it before. I've never given this a try either, but it looks so good, I might have to file it away for later use. : ) Thanks for playing with CSAYL.
