One Cool Kitty

I made this card so I could try a new technique (well, new to me anyway) called faux tearing, after I saw a tutorial on MFP Speedy TV.   This is the first time I've tried it, and I'm pleased with the result.


I wanted to keep this card CAS.  I used three shades of turquoise ink and several torn pieces of paper to create an ombre look with my faux tearing.  Then I stamped French script in grey, masking the faux tearing.  I stamped the kitty and the sentiment in black directly onto the card.  Then I stamped the sun in black on a yellow scrap and tore the edges.  Lastly I embellished with a piece of turquoise string tied into a bow.  Here are the supplies I used:
  • Stamps:  Cat (The Artful Stamper), sentiment (Inque Boutique), French script (Stampin' Up!), sun (unmarked, unknown)
  • Ink:  Versafine - Onyx Black, Ancient Page - Jade, Neptune, Turquoise, Stampin' Up - Going Gray
  • White Card Base:  Domtar
  • Yellow Scrap:  Recollections
  • String:  Dollarama
